Chairperson Hayes called the meeting to order at 9:01 AM. ATTENDANCE Chairman Hayes took the roll call. It indicated as follows: Commission Attendance PRESENT: Chairman Hayes, Commissioner Baur, Commissioner Walker, Commissioner Zander, Commissioner Skinner, Member Steffens ABSENT: Other Attendance PRESENT: Eric Guenther, Village Administrator and Robin Meier, Mayor PUBLIC COMMENTARY No public commentary. MINUTES APPROVAL Review and Approval of the April 2026 Minutes Motion to approve the Historical Commission meeting minutes from April 1, 2026. RESULT: Passed [Yes 6, No 0, Abstained 0] MOVER: Commissioner Tom Baur SECONDER: Commissioner Tracy Skinner AYES: Tom Baur, Anne Walker, Barb Zander, Jeffry Hayes, Tracy Skinner, Jeanne Steffens NAYS: None ABSTAIN: None PARK DISTRICT REPORT No one present; however, Eric (from Village) mentioned that the Park and Village are still talking through a few things and hopefully we will have answers by mid-summer. VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR REPORT No report. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT AND OTHER COMMUNICATION Docent Handbook The Docent Handbook was given back to MHC and will be returned to the museum by Page 5 of 10 Jeanne; All docents were given an electronic copy. Name Tags / Business Cards Name Tags for new members and docents have been ordered; however, takes some time to get them. Three-Sisters Garden Preparation Three Sisters Garden - Barb (our point person) has the seeds, planting containers have been ordered; however, we need to wait for the “go ahead” before planting anything. Meeting with MGN Lock Meeting with MGN Lock - Mike has been working with Mike about a possible “safe cracking” event at the Museum. ** It was later decided that we would do this as a “Bank Robbery” event later in the year, not at the 250 festivities. Quarterly Newsletter No report. Other No report. MUSEUM OPERATIONS Archiving Archiving - Jeanne and Tracy are going to work with Barb’s guidance. First meeting at the museum is Thursday, May 14, 2026. Barb mentioned that she and Jeanne tried multiple times to log-in on the museum’s laptop, but could not. Anne said she did NOT change the passwork. It was suggested to talk with Gary Gunther. Facility Maintenance No report. Collections: Accessioning / De-Accessioning Motion to accept recommendations for accessioning and de-accessioning as outlined. NEW BUSINESS Board Vacancy Board Vacancy - it was discussed how to recruit a commissioner for our vacancy. Suggestions were: Anne post something on FB and talk with possible new museum docents with history interest. June Fremont Library Display Page 7 of 10 June Fremont Library Display — Originally, it was mentioned that TOOLS would be the focus. However, without being able to access the laptop info at the museum, it was decided to: (1) Barb would talk with the library to pass the opportunity to another group to display or (2) switch the focus to businesses over the years. Radio Players Event Radio Players Event - “Those Were the Days”; Jeff will contact the library to coordinate how this might be possible. Museum of the American Sailor Presentation Museum of the American Sailor Presentation and New Preschool visit proposal: after some discussion, it was decided both opportunities, while fascinating, are not the best for us right now. Other No report. OLD BUSINESS America 250 Celebration / Mundelein History Day America 250 Celebration / Mundelein History Day - July 4, 2026 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at the museum. July 5th is the Parade Day - Jeff and Jeanne are looking to get more “vintage” cars for members to ride in. Flower Planter Display Flower Planter Display and “3-Sisters” Garden - Barb is the point person (info regarding this was mentioned earlier in these minutes). Document Display No report. "3-Sisters" Garden No Report Mundelein History Day Page 8 of 10 Story Corps We will begin the Story Corps concept with an Open Mic; people can share memories of growing up in Mundelein; Barb will work with Fremont for mic and amplification system for this. Pop-up Museum Pop-up Museum - visitors can bring old items to share and/or others can guess what the items are/were used for. Actors Info Display of Mr. & Mrs. Norton after Barb puts it all together. Tracy & Loren Skinner will portray them.
