CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Kenn Miller called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.. B. ROLL CALL: Commissioners Present: Kenn Miller David Blaydes Anne Stava-Murray Commissioners Absent: Kim Widup Mark Wright Police Liaison: Commander Michaus Williams Fire Liaison: EMS Bureau Chief Jim Kubinski Board Liaison: Kathy Mackenzie C. PUBLIC FORUM: None D. OLD BUSINESS: None E. NEW BUSINESS: 1. EMS Presentation - Naperville Fire Department EMS Bureau Chief Jim Kubinski conducted a presentation for the commissioners demonstrating the new equipment Zoll Autopulse and the I-Gel purchased for use in the ambulances. 2. Select Oral Interview Date for Police Officers Kathy Mackenzie will be sending out a link through the “When is Good” application to the commissioners to establish viable dates for police officer oral interviews. Sign New Police Officer Initial Eligibility Register The 2018 Initial Eligibility Register was signed by the commissioners F. REPORTS: 1. Police Department Report Commander Williams noted that both police officers Cole Ferguson and Neil Desmond graduated from the PTI Academy last week. Commander Williams reported that 269 candidates attended and tested at the August 18, 2018 Police Officer Written Test. Of those 269 candidates who tested, 197 candidates passed the test. Kathy Mackenzie inquired as to whether we will be utilizing the current video for the upcoming oral interviews/writing. It was confirmed we will be using the current video. 2. Fire Department Report EMS Bureau Chief Jim Kubinski informed the commissioners that the Power Shift was approved in collaboration with the union and management. The Power Shift will be staffed with 3 current personnel and one probationary firefighter/paramedic. G. CLOSED SESSION: Action Taken 1. A motion was made by Commissioner Anne Stava-Murray to terminate from the process police officer candidate #1, seconded by Commissioner David Blaydes. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote. 2. A motion was made by Commissioner David Blaydes to authorize to hire police officer candidate #7 Robert Chrzestek, seconded by Commissioner Anne Stava-Murray. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote. 3. A motion was made by Commissioner Anne Stava-Murray to authorize to hire police officer candidate #8 James Richert, seconded by Commissioner David Blaydes. A motion was made by Commissioner Anne Stava-Murray to continue in the process police officer candidate #5 Charles Smith, seconded by Commissioner David Blaydes. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote. 5. A motion was made by Commissioner David Blaydes to continue in the process firefighter/paramedic candidates #73 Zachary Volland, #89 Ryan King, #106 and #107, seconded by Commissioner Mark Wright. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote. 6. A motion was made by Commissioner Anne Stava-Murray to terminate from the process firefighter/paramedic candidate #104, seconded by Commissioner David Blaydes. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote. 7. A motion was made by Commissioner David Blaydes to approve the closed session minutes of August 14, 2018 and retain restriction, seconded by Commissioner Kenn Miller. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote. H. ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Commissioner Anne Stava-Murray to adjourn the meeting at 5:39 p.m., seconded by Commissioner David Blaydes.
