CALL TO ORDER: I would like to call the Board of Fire and Police Meeting for October 29, 2020 to order. Pursuant to Section 120/7(e) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act, the continuation of the Governor’s disaster proclamation, and Mayor Chirico’s executive order determining that in-person public meetings are not currently practical or prudent because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are holding this Board of Fire and Police Commission meeting remotely. The commissioners and staff participating in tonight’s meeting are all in different locations in accordance with social distancing guidelines, and steps have been taken to ensure that the Commissioners can hear one another and all discussion and testimony. The public has been provided notice of alternative means of access to the meeting so they are able to contemporaneously hear all discussion, testimony and votes. All votes shall be taken by roll call. Present 5- David Blaydes, Kim Widup, Mark Wright, Ronald Davidson, and Kirsten Young B. NEW BUSINESS: Review and approve open session minutes from October 29, 2020 A motion was made to approve open session minutes from October 29, 2020 by Commissioner Widup and seconded by Commissioner Davidson Aye 4- Blaydes Widup Wright Davidson Absent 1- Young F. REPORTS: 1. Police Department Report Armed robbery off Mundelein Election took up a lot of time and planning to be prepared for anything that might happen Gun related violence has been up significantly COVID numbers are spiking; handling staffing challenges at the department 113 lateral applications have been narrowed down to the top 20 Requesting candidate #16 from the Primary Eligibility Register to be moved to the background stage since he is a current sworn officer City of Naperville Page 2 Printed on 12/9/2020 Board of Fire and Police Meeting Minutes November 10, 2020 2. Fire Department Report Busy with COVID numbers increasing; transported 190 confirmed positive patients; fatality rate is very low at 1% 2 structure fires 1 homicide 155 candidates took the fire test and 113 passed G.
