CALL TO ORDER: I would like to call the Board of Fire and Police Meeting for March 9, 2021 to order. Pursuant to Section 120/7(e) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act, the continuation of the Governor’s disaster proclamation, and Mayor Chirico’s executive order determining that in-person public meetings are not currently practical or prudent because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are holding this Board of Fire and Police Commission meeting remotely. The commissioners and staff participating in tonight’s meeting are all in different locations in accordance with social distancing guidelines, and steps have been taken to ensure that the Commissioners can hear one another and all discussion and testimony. The public has been provided notice of alternative means of access to the meeting so they are able to contemporaneously hear all discussion, testimony and votes. All votes shall be taken by roll call. B. ROLL CALL: Present 4- David Blaydes, Kim Widup, Ronald Davidson, and Kirsten Young Absent 1- Mark Wright C. NEW BUSINESS: 2021 Police CAPS Event - BOFP Commissioners Award Review and approve executive summary closed meeting minutes from August 13, 2019 A motion was made to approve the executive summary closed meeting minutes from August 13, 2019 Aye 4- Blaydes Widup Davidson Young Absent 1- Wright F. REPORTS: 1. Police Department Report Armed robbery occurred at the Extra Value Liquors in the Coach and Bailey area 350 stops in the last 6 months in that area Fatal crash occurred in the area of 103rd and 59 A couple officers retiring; in the process of filling those positions Strategic Response Unit took another gun off the street; 16th gun they have taken 2. Fire Department Report Uptick in structure fires; 3 in the last two weeks Combined there has been about 26 fire-related incidents in the last few weeks with 8.5 million dollars in property saved Not going to have an academy; going to work from the FD candidate list soon G. CLOSED SESSION: 4:21 p.m. - 4:27 p.m. H.
