Tuesday, May 25, 2021 4:00 PM Municipal Center - West Wing Conference Room
A. CALL TO ORDER:
I would like to call the Board of Fire and Police Meeting for May 25, 2021
to order.
Pursuant to Section 120/7(e) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act, the
continuation of the Governor’s disaster proclamation, and Mayor
Chirico’s executive order determining that in-person public meetings
are not currently practical or prudent because of the Covid-19
pandemic, we are holding this Board of Fire and Police Commission
meeting remotely.
The commissioners and staff participating in tonight’s meeting are all in
different locations in accordance with social distancing guidelines, and
steps have been taken to ensure that the Commissioners can hear one
another and all discussion and testimony. The public has been provided
notice of alternative means of access to the meeting so they are able to
contemporaneously hear all discussion, testimony and votes. All votes
shall be taken by roll call.
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chairman David Blaydes and
attendance taken by Caitlin Smith

F. REPORTS:
1. Police Department Report
PD had their 4th swatting call in the last 3 weeks; generally related to online
gaming; dispatch is fantastic at catching onto cues for these types of calls
Armed robbery in the 1500 block of Fairway
2 rally’s in Naperville took place, Pro-Israeli rally followed by a
Pro-Palestinian rally; all together over 700 people in the area; a few issues
and crimes were committed that are being investigated

2. Fire Department Report
1 structure fire; residents were alerted by smoke detector and were able to
evacuate safely; fire was located in the garage
Continue to see roll-over accidents
Memorial Day service being held on Thursday 5/27 at 8:00 p.m.
Currently have 1 FD vacancy and starting to roll-out new hire process
Successful run of home-bound vaccine program; FD partnered with the
health department to get more bed-bound individuals and home-bound
residents vaccinated
G. CLOSED SESSION:

Approve the hire of police officer lateral candidates #20, 22 and police officer original
appointment candidate #10
