A. CALL TO ORDER:
I would like to call the Board of Fire and Police Meeting for June 8, 2021
to order.
Pursuant to Section 120/7(e) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act, the
continuation of the Governor’s disaster proclamation, and Mayor
Chirico’s executive order determining that in-person public meetings
are not currently practical or prudent because of the Covid-19
pandemic, we are holding this Board of Fire and Police Commission
meeting remotely.
The commissioners and staff participating in tonight’s meeting are all in
different locations in accordance with social distancing guidelines, and
steps have been taken to ensure that the Commissioners can hear one
another and all discussion and testimony. The public has been provided
notice of alternative means of access to the meeting so they are able to
contemporaneously hear all discussion, testimony and votes. All votes
shall be taken by roll call.
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chairman David Blaydes and
attendance taken by Caitlin Smith

F. REPORTS:
1. Police Department Report
Made an arrest for the shooting on Route 59
The Hanson case was solved after 49 years and the subject was charged
Chief is retiring effective July 2nd
2. Fire Department Report
1 FD vacancy; currently have 3 candidates off previous list and 10
candidates off new list
Working with HR on a new process to streamline things
Memorial held at night went really well with the timing of the lights
Vehicle accidents and roll-overs are still an increasing trend
3. Legal Report
Some communities are broadening the category of citizenship in the hiring
of police and fire candidates; this remains a municipal decision in regards
to who can serve
