ROLL CALL: Present: 6 - Doyle, Garrison, Noel, Ory, Chairman Peterson, Urda, Howard (non-voting) Absent: 2 - Vice Chair Jacks, Martinez, Councilwoman Anderson (non-voting) C. PUBLIC FORUM: D. OLD BUSINESS: E. CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS 1. Consider the Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) request in order to construct a room addition for property located at 7 N. Wright Street- COA 18-2670. Simon Boaler is the owner of 7 N. Wright Street and is requesting approval of COA # 18-2670 in order to construct a room addition. Mr. Boaler stated the proposed addition will reflect the quality of the surrounding homes and the historic district as a whole, while also maintaining the image of the current home. Public Testimony: Karl Schoene lives across Wright Street from the property and is in support of the proposal. The Historic Preservation Commission inquired about the proposed materials on the addition. Tom Ryan, architect for the owner, responded that the materials will match those used on the existing home. This includes the exposure and thickness of the cedar siding, the pilasters, and the freize board and gutter. The existing railing is not historic. The Historic Preservation Commission discussed a letter received from a nearby resident regarding the proposed addition. Chairman Peterson noted that HPC only has the authority to review the portion of the addition that is visible from the street. Peterson stated that the portion of the proposed porch that is visible from Benton is sensitive to the overall design of the home and is not objectionable.
