CALL TO ORDER: B. ROLL CALL: Present 7- Becky Rudolph, Daniel Bukowski, Ganesh Kar, Joel See , Arun Mani, Tony Chamberlain, and Ashfaq Syed Absent 3- Yugin Wang, Neelam Saboo, and Abdechafi Boubkir C. PUBLIC FORUM: Chairman Arun Mani asked if there were any speakers under public forum, there being 1 speaker, he called Mr. Lungu. Anton Lungu, Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova addressed the Commission to discuss building relationships, a potential sister city opportunity and partnership. D. OLD BUSINESS: E. REPORTS: 1. Approve the Sister Cities minutes of March 12, 2025 and April 9, 2025 A motion was made by Rudolph, seconded by Kar, approved. The motion carried by a unanimous voice vote. 2. Response to request for a letter of greeting to the Mayor in Nitra, Slovakia Rosemary Wisnowski requested a letter from Mayor Wehrli and the Chair to hand deliver while on a trip to Nitra. The letter is a way to continue to build a relationship and to give that personal outreach. 3. Discuss a draft Project Plan for the Monarch Butterfly project Motion was made by Commissioner Kar, seconded by Commissioner Dr. See to pursue signage and locations for the gardens. Motion passed by roll call vote. Absent: 3- Wang, Saboo, and Boubkir 4. Update on advancing student exchange opportunities Commissioner Chamberlain provided a brief update. He met with official at Naperville Central High School and discussed possible time of the year to have exchange students visit. There will be more information to come as Commissioners meet with school officials. 5. Illinois Sister Cities Conference Update provided by Commissioner Chamberlain Commissioner Chamberlain attending the Illinois Sister Cities Conference in May 2025 and provided some highlights of the conference. NEW BUSINESS: Commission Chamberlain suggested that the Commission put out a newsletter to recognize individuals in the community. G. ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm.
