throughout downtown New Britain to notify motorists of additional parking locations in
municipal garages and parking lots.
Petition
2. Alderperson Connors for the appropriate department(s) to conduct a feasibility study
regarding the implementation of a municipal sustainable materials management and waste
diversion program for the City of New Britain. Department heads have been contacted and
discussions have been held regarding this topic. A more thorough study into the
comprehension of enacting such a program, which would promote waste diversion and a
reduction of municipal solid waste disposal for the city. State funding will be available to
support this program, further ensuring its viability and cost-effectiveness.
Petition
3. Alderperson Sanchez for the appropriate department(s) to conduct a traffic study on Sunrise
Avenue for speed reducing recommendations and enforcement as well as pedestrian safety
measures. Residents have safety concerns for school children walking to Chamberlain
Elementary School due to excessive speeding and distracted driving in this area. In addition,
residents have concerns for pedestrians crossing at the crosswalk on Sunrise Avenue,
between East Street and Market Street, as motorist do not always stop for pedestrians
crossing. There are many children in the area due to the school and the need for appropriate
driving regulation enforcement and safety mechanisms is requested.
