Victorine Hadley Skeffington-Voss – Assistant Village Manager ______________ Community Development Director Charles Ostman John Jekot called the Building & Zoning committee meeting to order at 8:00 am, he he made a motion to approve the minutes from October 10, 2013 meeting, Chuck seconded the motion and it was a unanimous vote to approve. Bruce Sylvester then gave an update on the rewrite of the zoning code explaining that Camiros had given us the first draft of the zoning ordinance, staff had reviewed the first 3 sections and will review the rest of the first draft over the next month or so working with Camiros as we complete each section to give them our concerns or recommendations on an ongoing basis. He also gave an update on the Milwaukee avenue corridor study that is also being conducted by Camiros and is being worked on at the same time as the zoning code rewrite. They had received good input and had discussions with the Economic Development and Neighborhood Renewal committee back in March and are working on that from all of the feedback they had received at that meeting. Chuck Ostman gave a brief update on the Touhy Ave. corridor study; he said basically we are waiting for the final draft to come back and that we excepted it within a week or so. Rich Wlodarski gave an overview of the changes that were made to chapter 18 (building code) he went thru the memo that highlighted some of the significant changes to the code. Tom Kanelos asked about the change to not allow dumpsters on streets anymore and why this was decided, it was explained that Scott Jochim was pushing for this and convinced others to support him on this so we took it out of the ordinance it was noted that the building department did not support this decision. www.vniles.com The next meeting is set for August 7, 2014 The meeting was adjourned at 8:35
