Present: 6 - Chairman McCreery, Ostman, Wlodarski, Kanelos, Mangold, Skeffington-Vos Guests: Katarzyna Thake, Joe Penze, Dan Pontarelli, Bill Bastings, Rose Company Absent: 1 – Danielle Grcic APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairman McCreery asked for a motion to approve the minutes of April 18, 2019 meeting. Mangold moved to approve the minutes, Wlodarski seconded. AYES: 6 - Chairman McCreery, Ostman, Wlodarski, Kanelos, Mangold, Skeffington-Vos NAYS: 0 ABSENT: 1 – Grcic OLD BUSINESS I. Beekeeping Experts were brought in to provide more insight on beekeeping. They discussed general behavior of bees, safety, associated costs, insurance, maintenance and responsibility. After much discussion it was decided to not allow beekeeping in the Village. NEW BUSINESS I. Presentation on potential development 6615-6669 Milwaukee Ave Presentation was for a five-story end-of- life care facility with 62 rooms and mixed-use storefronts on the lower level. Discussions included parking and differences between Village of Niles Page 2 of 4 Building and Zoning Meeting Minutes June 20, 2019 Committee Meeting this facility and other similar ones. After much discussion, this item was tabled until further information and research is available. II. Chapter 8 “Use” Table- Discussion Topics discussed included HHgreg – LA Fitness, preschool identified as a day care center. III. Chapter 78 Signs Discussion Discussion included researching sign-height in neighboring towns, variances and landscaping. IV. Vehicles for Hire Discussion was about there not being a taxi cab company in Niles. V. Property Maintenance Video- Update The Building and Zoning Committee viewed the updated Property Maintenance Video, which highlights the roles and duties of Property Maintenance Inspectors, and shares property maintenance best practices with residents and property owners. VI. Property Maintenance/Real Estate Inspections Discussion regarding photographing home interiors upon inspection to insure no un- authorized work was performed and combat “flipping” of Niles homes. The idea was rejected. VII. Update on Software Discussion regarding allowing access to view permits and status online. NEXT MEETING DATE – Thursday, August 15, 2019.
