Community Relations Commission Meeting Summary January 12, 2017 Persons in attendance: Joe Kuffel Trustee John C. Jekot Dennis McEnerney – Chief of Police Tony Hollenback – Director of Family Services Cammy Fortuna - Secretary Persons absent: Jenny Lee Carolyn Drblik Dan Ryan Jason Trunco Steve Vinezeano – Village Manager Because a quorum was not present, the meeting was not called to order. Commissioner Joe Kuffel led the discussion. At 6:15 p.m., those present engaged in a discussion of the following topics: Citizen Comments / Complaints Those present reported that no complaints were received. Open Discussion Commissioners Jenny Lee and Carolyn Drblik, along with Family Services Director Tony Hollenback visited Axley Place in Glenview, Illinois for a tour of the new facility in November 2016. Axley Place is an affordable housing project in Glenview serving persons with disabilities and seniors. Low income housing in the Village of Niles was discussed. There is an affordable housing building located in Niles that is run by the Housing Authority of Cook County – The Huntington is located at 9201 Maryland Street. Discussion took place on affordable housing in Niles for especially for seniors, the disabled and veterans. If this type of housing were ever to take place, Niles residents would have first priority. At this time there is not a lot of land available in Niles for this type of development.  Community Relations Commission January 12, 2017 Public Comment No members of the public were present to make public comment.
