Chuck Ostman gave general guidelines and information concerning the open meeting act
and the particulars on how not to violate the open meeting act and general information on
FOIA request and some typical type of documents that are requested on a regular basis
that the village has to provide.
Chuck Ostman gave update and status on the planner and economic development
positions. And some of the immediate duties they would be moving forward on from re
doing the web site to working on the new zoning code. The positions still need to be
signed off on by the village board
Chuck Ostman gave an update on the RFQ and RFP for moving forward with the
updating and re-writing of the zoning code.
Mike Shields had concerns and wanted to make sure that this committee had the support
of the village in moving forward and getting things accomplished and keeping the 2030
plan moving forward.
Chuck Ostman gave an update on the bike path progress from a meeting he had with Bob
Pilat from the public services department, some misc. items were widening the tough
bridge and path at the river and also to widen the sidewalks on Howard from Milwaukee

Ave. all the way to Lehigh for easier access to the bike path.
Chuck gave update on the overall beautification and streetscaping along Milwaukee ave. and some of
the long term plans and issues that are being considered from Oakton to the North.
Long discussion on how this committee should move forward with the 2030 plan.
Chuck discussed the matrix he put together which listed all of the objectives of the 2030 plan and that
we as individuals should go thru all of the objectives and put them in order of priority and also give
ideas of how to go about achieving these objectives, there was also discussion that this group should
meet sooner rather than later because it will not take long to get the priorities in order and meet after that
occurs. Everyone agreed with the priorities and the time line of sooner rather than later.
The group had general discussion on events with in the village the events and discussion ranged from
car shows to concerts to farmers markets to running races. Also how to stir interest in Niles in general.
The committee decided on the next date to meet of July 16th at 6:30 pm.
