COMMISSION FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND NEIGHBORHOOD RENEWAL MEETING SUMMARY Monday, March 25, 2019 I. Call to Order Meeting was called to order at approximately 5:36pm. II. Approval of Minutes Minutes of the January 21, 2019 Meeting were unanimously approved after one correction to add that Iwona Filipiak introduced a developer to the Commission who is interested in doing a development on the Rain Garden site along Touhy. III. Other Business Updates on Economic Development Activities in the Village were given. Topics that were covered include:  Golf Mill Mall  Former Best Buy Property  Former HH Gregg on Touhy  Schmeisser’s Property IV. Sub-Committee Updates Trustee McCreery gave an update on the Village efforts to market our schools through the Village website, and a potential realtor’s packet. Additionally potential advertising avenues to attract new families were also discussed. An update on the Niles Design District was given and information on the Grand Opening Event scheduled for May 4, 2019 was given.  An Update on Improving the Housing Stock was given and the possibility for utilizing permit fee reductions and sales tax rebates to encourage home improvement along with any mortgage assistance program that is being developed. V. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 6:55pm.
