FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES VILLAGE OF NILES , ILLINOIS October 7, 2020 7000 W. Touhy Avenue Niles, IL 60714 Chairman Mueller called the meeting to order at 3:30 P.M. and took roll call. Present: Commissioner Pacheco, Commissioner Borkowki, Chairman Mueller, Police Chief Tigera, Deputy Police Chief Penze and Fire Chief Feld. Absent: Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the March 5, 2020 meeting were approved. Motion: Commissioner Pacheco. Second: Commissioner Borkowki. Yeas: Commissioner Pacheco, Commissioner Borkowki, Chairman Mueller. Nays: . Abstain:. Correspondence: None. Old Business: None. New Business: Discuss Fire hiring. Written fire test given on September 26, 2020. 213 candidates paid for the exam. 178 challenged exam. One candidate could not challenge exam due to positive Covid test. Will challenge exam on October 19, 2020. Possibly hiring one due to retirement. Discuss Police hiring. 40 – 50 candidates applied for lateral transfer. Police panel interviewed 8 candidates. Fire & Police Comission needs to interview top 3 candidates. The regular meeting was closed at 3:45 P.M. and opened in Executive Session per 5 ILCS 120/2 (1) Personnel. Motion: Commissioner Pacheco. The Executive Session opened at 3:45 P.M. to discuss Fire and Police personnel matters. The regular meeting was reconvened at 3:50 P.M.
