GENERAL GOVERNMENT/IT COMMITTEE
MEETING SUMMARY
Wednesday, May 13, 2015
The following voting persons were present: Chair George Alpogianis, Steven Vinezeano, Bill
Shaw and Cammy Fortuna. Staff present were Joe Annunzio, Cathy Spadoni, Kathy Barnat, Katy
Darr, Marlene Victorine and Hadley Skeffington-Vos. Two members of the public were present.
The meeting was called to order at 9:01 a.m.
I. Approve Meeting Summary: Wednesday, April 15, 2015
a. Unanimous approval.
II. Old Business
a. IT Director Bill Shaw expects the new phone system to be live mid-June
III. New Business
a. H.R. Update
i. Handbook Policy Updates – HR Director Kathy Barnat noted that various
Hany Book Policy items will be on the June Board Agenda. While
originally planned for May, they were moved due to high number of
agenda items.
ii. National Take Your Child to Work Day
1. HR Director Kathy Barnat presented a draft policy that is still
under review and will be presented at the next General
Government/IT meeting.
iii. 2nd Floor Signage
1. Outdated elevator and stairwell signage for the public needs to be
replaced. Staff will work with IT to develop and install new
signage in the coming month to make Village Hall appear more
professional. IT is updating the room numbering system for all
buildings as part of emergency operations.
b. Electrical Aggregation Update-
i. The Assistant Village Manager gave an update for the Electrical
Aggregation that will go into effect June 1, 2015. Letters have been
mailed out to residents and information is posted in several venues.
c. Styrofoam Ban-
i. The assistant Village Manager presented a draft policy on non-recyclable
plastic disposable food service containers. The Village is exploring a ban
on the use and purchase of these products. Staff is working on finding
recyclable alternative products.
d. Arts and Culture Update-
i. Mayor Andrew and Mrs. Przybylo along with Trustee Alpogianis and
Village Manager Steve Vinezeano went to district 63. Will be going to
District 71. Sister Cities Committee to meet soon regarding Arts and
Culture Committee.
e. IML Lobby Day Update
i. Mayor Przybylo, Trustee Alpogianis and Trustee LoVerde went to
Springfield and met with local legislators. They hope that good things will
come out of discussions.
IV. Open Discussion
a. IT conducted a test of Epay for Vehicle license renewal. They are only taking
Epay for license renewals that don’t require changes. They expect 10,000
payments online through Epay out of 30,000 annual renewals.
b. Shure came in to look at the Village Council Chambers and has new ideas for IT
staff. Trustee Alpogianis would like to see wireless technology & keep working
with local companies.
c. IT wanted input on plans to improve communications between our police
department and Glenview dispatch.
V. Public Comment
Resident Louella Preston commented on the Village’s proposed Styrofoam ban and
website calendar postings
