Village of Niles General Government / IT Committee Meeting Summary November 8, 2017 The following Voting Persons were in attendance: Chair George D. Alpogianis, Village Manager Steve Vinezeano, IT Director Bill Shaw and Member Cammy Fortuna. Staff present were: Cathy Spadoni, Ross Klicker. I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 8:51 a.m. in Room 218 at the Niles Administration Building. II. Approve Meeting Summary – General Government/IT Committee – October 11, 2017 – Approved, on voice vote all concurred. III. Old Business a. Honorary Street Naming Policy There was group effort to put together the Honorary Street Naming Policy Application. Residents will submit the applications to the General Government/IT Committee for review and then it will be presented to the Mayor for final approval. The Honorary Street Naming Policy will be presented at the November Board meeting as part of the Chair’s General Government/IT Committee report. The Honorary Street Naming Policy Application was unanimously approved “as is” by the General Government/IT Committee. IV. IT Project Updates / Open Discussion The new F.O.I.A. software is being finalized and will be implemented on January 1. The new software was researched through an RFI and three proposals were submitted. Next Request was chosen; the company offered the most robust package to meet the needs of the Village. So that proper identification is shown to the residents, by Village of Niles Employees as part of the new customer service policy, non-uniform wearing employees will be wearing the new Village of Niles issued lanyards displaying their identification (ID) cards. Police, Fire and Public Services already have their names on display as part of their uniforms. Employees can have a new ID card issued to have their first name only and department/position to be visible. The preference is to have new ID cards issued through IT by department instead of individually. V. Public Comment No members of the Public were present for Public Comment. VI. Next Meeting – Tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. VII. Adjournment With unanimous approval the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
