Andrew Vitale MIS – Sr. GIS Coordinator Rich Wlodarski Community Development Andrew Vitale called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m. Agenda Item #1 – Approval of Minutes The minutes of the May 9, 2013 meeting were approved. Agenda Item #2 – Old Business – Project Updates Address Annotation A.Vitale reported that the address annotation project is complete and will soon be displayed on maps. It is already on ArcView. It was noted that we don’t have addresses outside of Niles; we have PINs and ownership information (the address of the taxpayer owner of record). A.Vitale stated that he can build some annotation for areas just outside of Niles based on what the County tells him the address of that parcel is, but we must be aware that those addresses come from the County, not from the community, and they can differ. Cook County 2011 Parcels A.Vitale and S. Cusick have updated the 2011 parcels, including CityView. We now use thee new parcels along with the Assessors’ table (owner list) for areas outside of Niles - Niles, Maine and Jefferson townships.  GIS Steering Committee Meeting Minutes June 13, 2013 Agenda Item #3 – New Business Tree Trimming A.Vitale distributed examples of the tree-trimming atlas and the hydrant flow test atlas, which were requested by Village personnel. These atlases, which utilize the new address annotation, and accompanying spreadsheets are being submitted to contractors for their work on Village projects. Orthophotography A.Vitale is investigating pricing to replace our current orthophotography. He has assembled preliminary numbers from various contractors and is hopeful that this project will come in at under $20,000, including new orthos and updated planimetrics. He noted 1) there is a variety of products available that were not available when we last flew in 2009, e.g. different types of cameras that can fly at higher altitudes, using fewer passes to capture the Village at the same resolution and quality; and 2) prices have dropped considerably from five years ago. At the next meeting, he will present better numbers, samples from individual vendors, and highlights of the different and additional services that each vendor provides. If this committee makes a decision at its July or August meeting, we can easily be on O’Hare’s flight plan in the Spring (March) of 2014. Agenda Item #4 – Other Completed Tasks / Items Mailing Lists A.Vitale will be updating the mailing list generator script used by Bruce Sylvester (Community Development) within ArcView. It not only takes advantage of the 2011 parcels, but also takes advantage of the new assessor information for those owners outside of Niles. ***** B.Shaw reported that the laptops given to Public Services supervisors were running off Sprint’s cellular network, which became unusable. At the June Board meeting, we are requesting permission to go out to bid for eight Panasonic Toughbook laptops that will be put in supervisor vehicles, giving them access to Atlas, VueWorks and their desktops. He hopes that, if approved, they will be installed by the end of August. This is a cooperative effort between the IT, Maintenance and Public Works Departments. Agenda Item #5 – Schedule Next Meeting The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. in the 2nd floor conference room 218.
