Victorine PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE Minutes Monday July 16, 2019 9:30 a.m. Village of Niles 1000 Civic Center Dr. Second Floor Large Conference Room  Call to Order at 9:35 hrs.  Roll Call- Present-Trustee D Strzelecki, Chief Tigera, Chief Feld, Tony Fidanza, K. Thake, and members of the Media  Approval of Minutes The minutes from June 6, 2019 were approved. Motion made by Chief Feld, second by Tigera with all in favor and none opposed.  New Business 1. Rank Restructuring: Chief Tigera informed the committee on his plans to restructure the ranking in the Police Department. This adjustment is being considered for the senior command level. The new rank of Eagle will clearly define the span of control in the command structure. Chief Tigera gave a presentation on the change. After further discussion by the Committee, a motion was made by Fidanza recommending the re-structuring and seconded by Tigera. With all in favor and none opposed. 2. Memorial Police Statue: Chief Tigera requested permission to establish an exploratory committee with private partners, businesses, and the Village of Niles to create a memorial statue honoring fallen Police officers. The statue would be placed at the entrance to the Niles Police Department. Legalization of Cannabis: A discussion was held on the legalization of cannabis in Illinois. Both Chief Tigera and Chief Feld reiterated their concerns presented on June 11, 2019, at the Special Board Meeting presentation.
