Public Services Committee Meeting Summary:
September 7, 2016, 6:00 p.m.

I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.
II. Roll Call: Committee Members present were Chair Matyas, Committee Member Balzano
and Committee Member Mary Anderson. Committee member Fred Braun was absent. Also
present from Village Staff was Civil Engineer Robert Rado.
III. Approval of Meeting Summary: The July 20, 2016 meeting summary was approved.
IV. New Business: Two items were presented.
1. Maryland Avenue Traffic Calming - The primary agenda topic was a request for traffic
calming speed tables on Maryland Street between Ballard and Church. Public Services
Engineer Bob Rado presented the findings of a survey of the Maryland Street residents and a
proposal for two speed tables to be installed on Maryland Street. After discussion among the
Committee members and testimony from two residents supporting the installation of speed
tables, the Committee voted to recommend for this first traffic calming project to the Village
Board at a future meeting. This is the first of a series of traffic calming project requests
submitted to Public Services.
2. FY17: First Quarter Performance Measures for Public Services - The Committee briefly
discussed the Public Services performance measures reporting process. This included a
status report on a variety of ongoing infrastructure maintenance projects.
V. Public Comments: There were no further comments.
VI. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 7:08 p.m. with a future meeting to be scheduled
at the call of the Chair.
