STORMWATER COMMISSION MEETING SUMMARY Thursday, April 29, 2010 The following persons were present: Commission Chair Joe Lo Verde, Andrew Vitale, Chuck Ostman, Richard Wlodarski, Mousa Nazzal, Steven Vinezeano, and Mayor Callero. Also in attendance was Jeff Wickenkamp of Hey and Associates, Inc. Not present were George Van Geem and Scott Jochim. I. This meeting of the Commission was a short working meeting to review maps requested of “priority” areas discussed on April 22nd. A copy of the first draft of the Hey and Associates Agreement was distributed to the group for later review. The Village Attorney was provided a copy for his review. The meeting began with a review by Andrew Vitale of the mapped areas that were proposed within the Hey and Associates proposal. - Area one to the north bordering Glenview was in the proposal based on a request from a commission member. After review by the full commission, it was determined that other areas were more complicated and contained many more homes impacted by significant rain storms and should be focused on first. This area will become part of phase II of the study. - Area two near outlet one and encompassing the Cortland and Maryland area was also discussed to have fewer impacted residents as compared with other areas west of Greenwood. After it was determined that Engineering may be able to simply connect a sewer to a main line to the south to reduce flooding on streets in the area, this area became part of phase II of the study. - The areas that contain Outlet 2 – 5 was discussed at length due to the large number of home impacted in this area. - A new area was created west of Maryhill cemetery due to the large number of homes impacted by persistent flooding. Although the cemetery is completing some sewer work, the County is working on the sewers on Greenwood, and Park Ridge improved the park along Western, much more needs to be done. In addition, it was brought up by Hey that it would be ideal to work on this area to give the opportunity for Hey to work with the County as they work on Greenwood. This would ensure it is done properly and takes advantage of any opportunities to improve the situation. After much deliberation, the areas to be considered for detailed modeling in Phase I were redrawn. Andrew will provide copies of the new area for study. He will also designate the areas non on the maps for detailed modeling as phase II. Hey will rewrite their proposal to include the areas discussed and resubmit them to the Project Manager. The goal is to have the proposal reviewed by the Commission and the Village Attorney and be prepared for consideration by the Village Board at the May meeting. II. Next Meeting – TBD
