APPROVED 1 MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL COMMISSION 2 VILLAGE OF NORTHBROOK 3 COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS 4 SEPTEMBER 10, 2015 5 6 Commissioners Present (6) 7 Alan Schwall, Chairman 8 Robert Katz 9 F. Dirk Heidbrink 10 David Menn 11 Cliff Town 12 Christopher Urbanczyk 13 14 Absent (1) 15 Lori Jordison 16 17 Village Staff Present 18 Thomas Poupard, DPS Director 19 David Schoon, Assistant Director 20 21 Call to Order 22 Chairman Schwall called the meeting to order in the Terrace Room of Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane, at 23 5:35 p.m. 24 25 Roll Call 26 Roll was established. There was a quorum. 27 28 Review of Minutes 29 Commissioner Katz moved, seconded by Commissioner Menn to approve the August meeting minutes as 30 presented. On a voice vote, there were all ayes, and the motion was unanimously approved. 31 32 Public Comments Regarding Items Not on the Agenda 33 None. 34 35 798 Skokie – Roti’s Wall Sign 36 Assistant Director Schoon briefed the Commission on the sign design and how the Applicant was also 37 considering applying for a special permit so the height could be increased from 20 feet in height to 24’ 38 10”. Mr. Schoon showed the Commission members images of the sign at 20 feet and at 24’ 10”. 39 A representative of the sign company was present and said he could answer questions. 40 Members then discussed the merits of the sign at 20 feet versus 4’ 10”. The consensus was that the sign 41 was attractive at either height, but members liked the fact that at 24’ 10” it was centered on the 42 architectural element. 1 APPROVED 1 Member Katz moved, seconded by member Heidbrink to approve the sign as presented at 20 feet in 2 height and to also note their support if the applicant chooses to pursue a special permit to raise the sign 3 to 24’ 10”. On voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. 4 Member Katz, seconded by Member Menn to approve the proposed wall signs on the rear of the 5 building, as presented. On voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. 6 Chairman Schwall mentioned that he felt the covered walkway on the side of Mariano’s was attractive, 7 but the grades make it difficult to access the walkway form the parking lot. Director Poupard said he 8 would mention this to the Village Engineer. 9 New Single Family Home Elevations: 10 The ACC reviewed the information on the new single family home elevations for the following: 11 a. 1401 Linden – Revision to Previously Approved Plan (R-4 District) – Town Studio, architect 12 b. 714 Pfingsten Road (R-3 District) – Dave Henry, architect 13 c. 2049 Woodlawn (R-4 District) – Michael Buss Architects, Ltd. 14 A motion was made by Member Katz, seconded by Member Urbanczyk to approve these single-family 15 home elevations as presented. On a voice vote, the motion passed with Member Town abstaining. 16 17 New Business 18 None 19 20 Old Business 21 None 22 23 Adjourn 24 There being no further business, Commissioner Town moved, seconded by Commissioner Menn to 25 adjourn the meeting.
