2014 ART IN THE PARK (July 12 & 13)
Megan Melloy of EM Events reported at this time 65 Artists have committed and there are 5 more Artists
interested but not committed yet. At this time they are still recruiting Artists at different events as well.
They are working on getting different types of free advertising this year and it looks like it will work
well. Also, they are having the cards made, articles for newspapers and email blasts will go out.
Erin Melloy of EM Events reported the Artist registration will be moved down to the beginning by the
parking lot to make it easier access for the Artists to check in. This will stop traffic from backing up at
the in gate. Information will go to the Artists approximately three weeks before the festival. Artists will
get there booth number and location the day of the show as things are constantly changing until the last
minute. The two food vendors will be Dairy Queen and Little Louie’s. The children’s activities will be
in the middle like last year as well as the young Artist’s. The young Artist’s will be in a bigger tent this
year instead of individual tables like last year. We should have about 70 to 72 Artist’s the day of the
festival. We are already at the minimum of 65 Artist’s so we should exceed this by the date of the
festival.
If you get an inquiry just refer them to Erin Melloy of EM Events website. Erin stated we closed in
Jewelry and Photography as of now. There is a waiting list for those media’s that are full.
Chairman Miller will get the layout for our advertising and maps before the day of the festival.
Chairman Fischer of the Northbrook Park District has signed up Zumba for both days starting at 9:00
a.m. and this will be advertised with the food and music. This music is all set but he is working on
getting some Northbrook Kids to fill the 10:00 a.m. spot.
Advertising and Promotion we have radio spots with email blasts and we also have the 9th or the 10th
issue of the Northbrook Star. We are getting the full page on Page 3 plus the Glenview edition. We will
get the front page strip on the Northbrook Tower, Chicago Tribune, banners going up from Northbrook
Nine with one banner going up in Freedom Square, Sportsman’s and the Village Green Center with our
artwork and logo. The Village Newsletter, posters and our cards. Park fest – we have someone
scheduled for every night of Park fest but we can always use more people to help advertise the Festival.
The Artist’s also help promote the festival by telling everyone that they will be there, putting it on their
website’s and sending out email blasts of their own.
Commissioner Block has also scheduled to have all electronic signs in town like Zengler’s Cleaners to
promote the event as well.
Artist Hospitality is be hosted by Cheryl Fayne DePersio and Sharon Moyer. They will be setting up
Saturday and Sunday mornings but will need help at 10:30 to 2:00 and 11:30 to 2:00 on Saturday and
Sunday. Also needed are 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. plus the cleanup both days. They are recruiting volunteers
themselves. Please contact Cheryl if you would like to volunteer.
Children’s activity is organized by Commissioner Natenberg. She has built on the idea of last year and is
now just having them work with pipe cleaners for mobiles and other creations. She will be using
community service kids and recruiting others to help for Saturday.
Ferraro’s will be supplying the flowers for the festival and the Historical Society is donating the fire
extinguishers we need.
Information Booth will be overseen by Commissioner Weiss and she will need more volunteers to assist
her. All persons working the booth will have to have more training as to locations of food, restrooms,
booths and emergency help to better assist patrons.
Chairman Miller passed around a sheet for people to sign up for shirts for the event. The T-Shirt should be
worn the day of the festival.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
On Sunday from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. – at Highland Baking Company there will be a St. Baldrick’s for Cancer
event.
Rock the Green starts tomorrow night and starts at 6:00 p.m. and don’t forget Northbrook Youth Film Festival
