MINUTES
NORTHBROOK ARTS COMMISSION
VILLAGE OF NORTHBROOK
October 8, 2015
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Julia Miller at 7:00 p.m. in the Village of Northbrook Terrace Room .
Commissioners present: Jerry Block, Sheila Day, Steve Gianni, Frank Lamberti, Christopher Laughlin and Cherie
Natenberg.
Commissioners Excused: Sharon Moyer and Marilyn Jamora.
Commissioners Absent: None
Guests in attendance: Nester Dyhdalo from the Northbrook Symphony and Moses and Janet Cordovee (Northbrook
Artists).
MINUTES:
Chairman Julia Miller asked for a motion to approve the minutes from June 4, August 6, and September 3, 2015.
Commissioner Laughlin motioned to approve the minutes with changes, Commissioner Moyer seconded the motion, all
are in favor.
HERE FROM THE AUDIENCE:
Mr. Nester Dyhdalo from the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra discussed a request he would like to present to the
commission to fund a portion of the Holiday Concert to be held on December 6, 2015 at the Techny Towers with two
concerts this year. This concert will honor Dr. Smith for starting the Northbrook Symphony and the Civic Center. The
commissioners will discuss this request at the November meeting.
POETRY EVENT
Chairman Miller discussed a Poetry Event for the second Sunday in April 2016 at the Northbrook Library. The
commissioners discussed this event and Commissioner Laughlin motion to have a Poetry Event in April of 2016 with a
budget up to $500.00 without a reception at the Library. Commissioner Block seconded the motion and all
commissioners are in favor.
SPRING ART WORKSHOPS
Chairman Miller asked the commissioners if they are interested in have the Spring Art Workshops again in 2016.
There may be up to three workshops (March, April and early May) in the Tile room at Village Green. Commissioner
Block motioned to proceed with the Art Workshops and Commissioner Day seconded the motion, all are in favor.
ART IN THE PARK 2016
Chairman Miller is asking the commission for approval to evaluate Art in the Park for 2016. She is asking for
permission to evaluate not to approve the event. Commissioner Day motioned to proceed with evaluating the Art in the
Park 2016 and Commissioner Block seconded the motion. All are in favor.
PROPOSED MUSIC EVENT
Commissioner Laughlin discussed an idea to hold a music/dance event at the Northbrook Library Auditorium. This
would be open to Northbrook based musicians and possible dancers. This event will be discussed in more detail at a
future meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:
Chairman Miller discussed with the commissioners to change the next meeting date from November 5 th to November
12, 2015. Commissioner Block motioned to change the meeting date from the 5 th of November to the 12th of November
and Commissioner Day seconded the motion. All are in favor.
December 3, 2015 will be the last meeting of 2015.

Commissioner Moyer motioned to adjourn the meeting and Commissioner Lamberti seconded the motion, all are in
favor at 8:10 p.m.
