NORTHBROOK ARTS COMMISSION
VILLAGE OF NORTHBROOK
December 3, 2015
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Julia Miller at 7:00 p.m. in the Village of Northbrook Terrace Room.
Commissioners present: Jerry Block, Sheila Day, Steve Gianni, Frank Lamberti, Christopher Laughlin, Sharon Moyer
and Marilyn Jamora.
Commissioners Excused: Cherie Natenberg.
Commissioners Absent: None
Guests in attendance: Marsha Schwartz, Resident and Kate Hall, Executive Director of the Northbrook Library.
MINUTES:
Chairman Julia Miller asked for a motion to approve the minutes from the October 8, 2015 and November 12, 2015
meetings. Commissioner Laughlin motioned to approve the minutes from October and November and Commissioner
Gianni seconded the motion. All are in favor with noted changes, Motion passed.
HERE FROM THE AUDIENCE:
Kate Hall discussed the new space at the Northbrook Public Library and current events. The Library would like to
work with the commission on reviewing artwork that would be displayed at the Library or donated to the Library. Also
they would like to change the Northbrook Originals and possibly showcase the artwork longer than one month as well
as other exhibits throughout the year.
A volunteer sub-committee will work with the Library on ideas for exhibits or other events. The Library is also asking
for suggestions for the entrance that is not finished yet at the Library. Chairman Miller and Kate Hall will discuss how
to gather the information and organize the projects. A sub-committee of Sharon Moyer, Jerry Block, Sheila Day and
Marilyn Jamora will work with Kate Hall’s assist on upcoming events.
UPDATE ON 2016 MUSICAL EVENT:
Commissioner Laughlin reported that Al Alvarez has two groups committed, one Latin Jazz for the last Sunday in April
and one Flamenco the second Sunday in May 2016.
The costs for three concerts are anticipated to be about $4,000.00. The commission will vote on this budget at the
February meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:

NEW BUSINESS:
Poetry event will be on April 17th at the Library which is in the middle of Northbrook Originals. Flyers and postcards
have gone out.

Commissioner Moyer motioned to adjourn the meeting and Commissioner Block seconded the motion, all are in favor
