APPROVED MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE BICYCLE TASK FORCE Northbrook Village Hall – Terrace Conference Room May 14, 2014 Members Present: Frank Bleeker, Angus Duthie, Chris Henning, Mardi Scott, Tom Tebbe, Members Absent: Jim O’Connell, George Garner Jr., and Matt Cassidy Staff Present: Jim Baxa and Jennifer Rooks-Lopez Staff Absent: Mike Metrick Others Present: Doug Gerleman and Kathy Hoschald Call Meeting to Order. Chairman Henning called the meeting to order in the Terrace Conference Room of the Village Hall at 7:08 p.m. Public Comments – Hear from Audience. Audience members were in attendance to speak about a meeting agenda item. Review March 12, 2014 Minutes. It was moved and seconded that the March 12, 2014 minutes be approved. The motion was approved. Techny River Trail. Doug Gerleman and Kathy Hoschald, representing the local citizen group called “Go Green Northbrook” was present to provide an update on the Techny Trail project. At the January meeting of the Bicycle Task Force the committee requested Go Green Northbrook (GGN) to follow up with additional information from Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRDGC) & Society of the Divine Word. GGN informed the committee both private entities are requiring letters of support from the Village and Park District stating they are interested in pursuing planning, engineering, construction and future maintenance of the project. The Society of the Divine Word is requesting the Village provide Phase I engineering drawings to have a better idea for the proposed trial alignment. Additionally, GGN provided to the committee signed petitions from Northbrook residents and local business that support the Techny River Trail project. Lastly, the Bicycle Task Force committee made a motion requesting the Village Board to investigate and pursue the project with the entities involved (MWRDGC, Society, and Park District). Review and Updating the Northbrook Bicycle Plan. The Bicycle Task Force committee completed the review of the adopted Northbrook Bicycle Plan – Phase I for updates and revisions to the document. Draft revision comments will be incorporated into the document and presented to the Village Board for approval of the amended changes. May 14, 2014 BTF Meeting Minutes - APPROVED Northbrook’s Earth Day Event – Bicycle safety training. The Bicycle Task Force committee followed up to the safety training event held at the annual earth day event; based on committee input it was recommend due to the low turnout of participants for the safety training this program be withheld from future Earth Day events. However, from the positive feedback received from distribution of bicycle related literature and answering general questions from the attendees, continuing to host a vendor booth to for literature distribution and general Q&A with Earth day attendees, should be continued. Old Business. Due to staff time constraints, review of the work program format was deferred to a future Bicycle Task Force meeting.
