Jason Jenkins of Active Transportation Alliance (ATA) presented a new bicycle safety program offered by ATA called “Bikes on Wheels”. The primary objective of this program is to provide bicycles to local area schools or park services who then can offer safety training programs with topics for both pedestrians and bicycling. The training goals of the program are to reduce potential for accidents as children either walk or bike to school and also in their daily activities. ATA presented the program as a startup course which they would initially provide training, bicycles for a training session in order for the local area schools or park services to see if they would move forward with purchasing similar equipment and continue the program during the school year or annual through a park district program. Bike Route Priority Selection. The Bike Task Force started a selection procedure for bicycle/pedestrian projects for future programming into capital development. This will be an on-going task for the committee; some of the preliminary considerations established by the committee include the following:  Primary Goal is for projects that are eligible to receive grant funding  Secondary Goal is for projects which are buildable within Village right-of-way and would not require easements from outside property owners. Adjourn: On motion made and seconded, the meeting of the BTF was adjourned at 9:03 p.m. Minutes Submitted by Jim Baxa.
