Filipino Music has agreed to participate. YMCA Martial Arts will perform a 10 minute introduction and continue with their program in the D room throughout the day. We currently have 9 performances. Sue will look into trying to obtain one or two more performers. The following display vendors will not be participating this year due to scheduling conflicts: - Chinese Pottery - Chinese Museum – game and name writing - Korean name writing - Filipino ancient writing SUMI-E (YMCA) has confirmed they will participate. Nancy is still waiting to hear back Sariling Atin Filipino Restaurant. Nancy also stated that her daughter will be joining our committee. We welcome the additional help. Chinese brush painting demo is tentatively schedule to be done in the kindergarten room. Film showing is tentatively scheduled to be seen in both the conference and ABC rooms. We currently do not have someone to do a public service announcement (PSA). Sue will ask Wileen if she is available. The YMCA has two of our three plastic banners from last year. Sue will check with Jason to see if he can find our third banner. These banners will need to be updated with this years date and times. A discussion pursued regarding having the YMCA kids draw a horse large enough to cover the wall behind the stage. Howard noted the Y has a banner machine that can make a paper banner. He will research the cost associated with doing this via their machine. We discussed streaming the event throughout the Y on their wide screen TV’s and video taping it for next year’s publicity. Another possibility would be to show the event live on Northbrook’s TV channel. We will have a recording welcoming attendee’s in various Asian languages in the front lobby. Nancy said she will take responsible for producing the recording. The Y will have signs at the front door welcoming attendees in various languages and directing them to the various rooms. There was a discussion regarding changing the names of the Y rooms to Asian names (e.g., call the gym Singapore, the D room Bangkok, etc.). This option is under consideration. The subject of using a passport to help guide attendees and possibly using it for raffle prizes was discussed. The idea of a passport was well received. The passport would include a map of the Y where activities will be held. Use of the passport for a raffle prize was dismissed. Sue asked if all three racketball courts could be used for performers. Howard said he needed to have one court available for Y members. However, performers could use the locker rooms to change and two of the courts for changing and/or practicing. We discussed the use of volunteers to help guide attendees to various activities, hand out programs/passports and fortune cookies and other activities deemed necessary. Fourteen volunteers would be ideal to help out for an hour throughout the day. Sue will ask the Commission for volunteers. We discussed the value of having attendees fill out a short survey that included their name, email address and how they heard about the event. The email address would be used to notify them about next year’s event. Next meeting is scheduled for March 20, 2014 at the NSYMCA at 5:30 PM. Meeting ended at 8:40 PM. Bob Lozaro Member of the Asian Heritage Celebration Sub-Committee
