1 Minutes of a Meeting of the 2 Northbrook Community Relations Commission 3 Asian American Heritage Subcommittee 4 Monday, April 27, 2015 5 6 7 Present: Chair Ray Wehr, Subcommittee Members Jasmine Lee, Frank 8 Linardi, Bob Lozaro, Howard Schultz, and Misty Vinson-Spitzer 9 10 Guests: None. 11 12 Absent: James Hyun, Dan Moy & Reemlee Chowdhury 13 14 Others: Staff Liaison Mike Strong 15 16 Call to Order & Welcome 17 Chair Pro Tem Bob Lozaro called the meeting to order at 5:45 p.m. in the conference 18 room of the North Suburban YMCA at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook. 19 20 Hear from the Audience 21 None. 22 23 Update on Entertainment for 2015 Event 24 Member Jasmine Lee gave an oral report concerning the entertainment acts who have 25 confirmed participation in the 2015 event. 26 27 She stated she is still waiting for information from Remlee Chowdhury and will email the 28 group when it is received. Member Lee stated that Little Ole Korea needs two or three 29 microphone stands for their performance, rather than a podium. Member Lozaro said that 30 St. Norbert’s has a few stands that we could use, if needed. 31 32 Member Lee proposed the following agenda for entertainment: 33 34 1:00 Introduction/Opening Remarks – Sandy/Ray/Howard; thanks to 35 sponsors/organizations participation 36 37 1:10 LOK (:05) 38 1:20 Culture in Motion (:15) 39 1:40 LOK (:05) 40 1:50 Ryan Shi (:05) 41 2:00 Karate/Taekwondo (:10) 42 2:15 SamaSama (:10) 43 2:30 Chicago ADAA (:15) 44 2:50 SoriBeat (:10) 45  Minutes of a Meeting of the Asian American Heritage Subcommittee April 27, 2015 46 She stated that information concerning the acts are being received so that the brochure 47 can be completed. 48 49 Member Schultz requested that Member Moy should get door prizes; and that staff 50 should follow up with him on these items. General discussion took place concerning 51 door prizes that could be solicited for the event. 52 53 Member Lozaro asked that Member Lee should coordinate facility and equipment needs 54 for each act; such as: 55 - Power/equipment needed 56 - Music needs to be provided and how will they play it? (CD, USB, etc.) 57 58 Tasks/Responsibilities 59 Member Lee will be the entertainment liaison – sticking to schedule, having groups check 60 in with her during event. She stated she will also work with Wileen/MC to make 61 announcements. 62 63 Member Linardi will handle setup in the gymnasium and ABC classroom. 64 65 Greeters: Volunteers, TBA 66 67 Arts and Crafts: Instructors will be handling these activities. 68 69 Food handling: need two individuals at each station 70 71 Parking: CERT Volunteers 72 73 Traffic: Police 74 75 Subcommittee Chair Wehr requested that volunteers and subcommittee members be on 76 site around 10:30 am, and that an on-site meeting with staff and volunteers would occur 77 around 12:00 pm. 78 79 Update on Promotion and Marketing 80 Staff Liaison Strong gave an update on the status of the flyer, website and press release. 81 General discussion took place concerning the how the YMCA would promote the event, 82 and how they could work with the Village to continue promoting the event. 83 84 Food Updates 85 Member Lozaro stated that Pavilion and Golden Chef are confirmed and ready to go for 86 the event.
