1 Minutes of a Meeting of the 2 Northbrook Cares Subcommittee of the 3 Community Relations Commission 4 Northbrook, IL 5 Wednesday, September 14, 2016, 7:00pm 6 7 Present: Chair Bruce Doughty, Subcommittee Members Elliot Bruckman, Sharon Latek 8 and Alice Lonoff 9 10 Others: Village Staff Liaison Erik Jensen, Teen Representatives Dori Latek and Megan 11 Kamin 12 13 Welcome 14 Chairman Doughty called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Terrace Room at Village Hall. 15 16 Hear from the Audience 17 There were no public comments. 18 19 Chair Doughty informed the group that Subcommittee Member Hamed had stepped down due to other 20 personal commitments. He thanked her for her service. 21 22 Project Updates: 23 1. Website: 24 25 Staff Liaison Jensen overviewed the status of the website project. He explained the remainder of the 26 review process. 27 28 Chair Doughty overviewed the history of the website for the teen representatives. 29 30 2. Text-A-Tip Research 31 32 Chair Doughty reviewed the status of Text-A-Tip Research. Staff Liaison Jensen shared usage 33 statistics gathered by Nancy Vaccaro, Director of Counseling Services, on Text-A-Tip usage in New 34 Trier Township. He also shared statistics from the City of Lake Forest. 35 36 Chair Doughty suggested, based on the initial research, that the group begin reaching out to 37 potential stakeholders to discuss the program and potential funding sources. After a brief 38 conversation, the group decided to reach out to the local school districts, Northfield Township and 39 the Villages to discuss the program and potential partnerships. 40 41 3. Exchange Group 42 43 Chair Doughty suggested that the Subcommittee should hold a breakfast with the Exchange Group 44 (the local non-profits and houses of worship) soon. 45 46 Member Bruckman stated it would be important to check in with them as the project continues. 47 48 4. Teen Group 49 50 Chair Doughty thanked Ms. Latek for attending. He further stated it would be important to engage 51 the Teen Group in the website project. 52 53 Member Lonoff suggested potentially involving the Youth Commission. 54 55 The group agreed to explore the possibility. 56 57 Next Meeting 58 The next meeting will be Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 7pm in the Terrace Room at Village Hall. 59 60 Adjournment 61 A motion was made by Member Bruckman and seconded by Member Lonoff to adjourn.
