MINUTES OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY CONTROL COMMISSION VILLAGE OF NORTHBROOK May 26, 2016 Chairman Reynolds called the EQC meeting to order at 7:08 p.m. in the Shermer Study of the Northbrook Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane. The following Members were in attendance: Dale Duda, Jeremy Reynolds, Tara Wesselink, Michael Beeftink, and Brian Bruce. A full quorum was met. Also Present: Staff Liaison Emily Creer Members absent: Members Scott Robson Minutes The minutes of the April 21, 2016 meeting were reviewed. On a voice vote, the motion to approve the minutes as amended passed unanimously. Chairman’s Report Chairman Reynolds provided information regarding information provided at the April meeting regarding contamination at the 1000 Skokie Road development site. He also discussed the process for recruiting a new commissioner and stated he spoke with one individual previously about joining. Member Wesselink provided an update on recycling at Crestwood Place as she attended the Senior Services Commission meeting on the topic. She is assisting with developing signage for Crestwood. Staff Liaison Creer provided contact information for Betsy Garibaldi to assist with the process. Citizen Concerns Hear from the Audience No audience members were present. Village Monarch Project Update Member Duda stated 300 plugs of milkweed were provided and six different classrooms were given presentations. She requested information about the project be present on the Village website. Staff Liaison Creer stated she would work with the communication manager and that staff is currently planning on locations for the signage and reviewing wording. Community Garden Member Bruce stated he has been working on completing the plots at Temple Beth-El. Terracycle Member Wesselink stated the YMCA is continuing to Terracycle and is looking to open the opportunity to the Village. Staff Liaison Creer stated she will bring up the suggestion to the Village’s Green Team at their next meeting. Citizen’s Climate Lobby There was a discussion of the content of the request and Staff Liaison Creer agreed to present this item to the Green Team. New Business Member Bruce stated that a rain garden clean up occurred before the meeting and that milkweed was planted. Additional plants need to be purchased. Next Meeting The next regular meeting of the EQC will be held on June 16, 2016. Adjourn Member Bruce made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:04 p.m. The motion was seconded by Member Beeftink.
