MINUTES OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY CONTROL COMMISSION VILLAGE OF NORTHBROOK July 21, 2016 Chairman Reynolds called the EQC meeting to order at 7:23 p.m. in the Shermer Study of the Northbrook Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane. The following Members were in attendance: Dale Duda, Tara Wesselink, Michael Beeftink, and Jeremy Reynolds. A full quorum was met. Also Present: Staff Liaison Emily Creer Members absent: Members Brian Bruce and Scott Robson Minutes The minutes of the June 16, 2016 meeting were reviewed. On a voice vote, the motion to approve the minutes as amended passed unanimously. Chairman’s Report Chairman Reynolds reported he is still working to fill the opening in the Commission. Citizen Concerns Hear from the Audience There was a presentation by Go Green Northbrook designed to report on plastic bag policies in the Village of Northbrook. Josh Zaacks conducted a survey for businesses in town and collected data on how each store is environmentally friendly. He recommended increased advertising and tax incentives for companies to reduce the usage of plastic bags and increase recycling. Village Monarch Project Update Member Duda stated there will be a Monarch walk on August 2nd. She also reported information on the butterfly release. Community Garden There was no report on the Community Garden. Terracycle Staff Liaison Creer stated the Green Team would be implementing terracyling at the upcoming Earth Day event. New Business No new business was discussed. Next Meeting The next regular meeting of the EQC will be held on August 18, 2016.
