No audience members were present. There was a discussion of the status of the plastic bag
presentation from the July Meeting. Staff Liaison Creer stated she would be meeting with Go Green
Northbrook to further the discussion.
Village
Monarch Project Update
Commissioner Duda stated in early august there was a tour of Sportsman’s golf course to view the
milkweed plants that have been planted by the Park District. President Frum was present along with
fifteen other individuals. She also noted there was a discussion of a potential butterfly garden near the
intersection of Landwehr and Dundee. She stated there will be a meeting in October for the Monarch
Project and it will include garnering additional volunteers for school presentations. There was a
discussion regarding identifying areas in the Village that might be good locations to place milkweed.
Staff Liaison Creer noted a GIS layer could be included to show areas where the Village has planted
milkweed. The Commission agreed there needs to be further education about native plantings.
Community Garden
Commissioner Bruce stated the Community Garden has spent approximately $4,500 on the Temple
Beth-El garden plot and that he is looking for ways to advertise the location to interested residents.
There are twenty-five additional plots ten of which have been developed.
New Business
Commissioner Wesselink requested the Village look into a green business award like that of the Village
of Glenview. Staff Liaison Creer was directed to find more information about the award. There was also
a discussion of conducting a walkability presentation.
