MINUTES OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY CONTROL COMMISSION VILLAGE OF NORTHBROOK February 16, 2017 Chairman Reynolds called the EQC meeting to order at 7:07 in the Terrace Room of the Northbrook Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane. The following Members were in attendance: John Albrecht, Tara Wesselink, Jeremy Reynolds, Michael Beeftink, Scott Robson and Dale Duda. A full quorum was met. Also Present: Staff Liaison Emily Creer and Erik Jensen, Assistant to the Village Manager Members absent: Member Brian Bruce Minutes The minutes of the January 19, 2017 meeting were reviewed and approved as amended. Chairman’s Report There was a continuation of the coal tar ban discussion. The Commission agreed to delay any action until the next meeting to see if any movement had been made at the state level. Chairman Reynolds stated testing could be conducted at the local level in order to ensure compliance. Commissioner Duda stated the Commission should continue with education. Ms. Creer stated information about coal tar is in the newsletter and now on the village website. Citizen Concerns Hear from the Audience No Audience members were present at the meeting. Village Green Business Award There was discussion regarding how the Commission should approach the award. They agreed to begin with History, Purpose, Benefits and Criteria first. The edits made would be discussed at the upcoming meeting. Heritage Tree Program Ms. Creer stated the village does not maintain a database of private trees. The commission discussed having private residents submit information and compiling pictures for a brochure. New Business No new business was discussed. Next Meeting The next regular meeting of the EQC will be held on March 16, 2017. Adjourn Member Duda made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:24 p.m. The motion was seconded by Member Wesselink a voice vote, the motion passed.
