CONNPAC MEETING MINUTES

Meeting Called to order at 10:05am by Chief Palmer
Secretary’s Report: Minutes Tabled
Treasurer Report: $4472.75 Balance.
TOPICS DISCUSSED
ANNOUNCEMENTS
• Avon PD Re-Accredited and awarded Meritorious Distinction from CALEA
at July conference.
• Coventry PD received initial CALEA Accreditation at July conference.
• Enfield to be presented for reaccreditation at the November CALEA
conference
CALEA Conference Notes:
• CALEA office has moved. Phone number 7073-352-4227. No longer
have the 800 number.
• New website.
• Reviewing the onsite process
• New Assessor Refresher Training program
• CALEA looking to attract more “A” size agencies. Reviewing size
designations currently in use.
• Subcommittee reviewing procedures for “electronic onsites”.
OLD BUSINESS
PAC Website – Motion made to expend up to $2500 for new design of PAC
website to include searchable database of directives as well as discussion forum,
etc… MMSC – Unanimous Vote.
NEW BUSINESS
Linda Carlin discussed including Records Supervisors as part of the PAC
meeting to discuss Records issues. She will be sending out an email to gauge
interest.
Discussion concerning existence of user groups for CAD/RMS software.
State Accreditation: Ted LeMay discussed that the program is getting back on
track now that the staffing issues have been resolved at POST and has received
interest from additional agencies. Agencies advised of CONNPAC when
contacting State program. State Post to be reaccredited in December and will be
looking for mock in October. He is looking to try and schedule A.M. and Assessor
training in the fall.
Lineups-Show Ups: Linda Carlin made available her policy on responding to the
changes in the CALEA standard regarding lineups and show-ups. She reported
that agencies have one year from March 2010 to come into compliance.
New Protocol on handling victims/witnesses whose immigration status is
questionable. New law requires a policy. POST developed a model policy which
can be referenced.
Meeting Schedule
October 7, and December 2nd. Meetings currently scheduled for 10:00am at
Department of Public Safety (CSP – HQ) in Middletown, Room 348.
