NEW BUSINESS VILLAGE OF PALATINE Page 2 of 7 Page 4 of 20 Minutes March 18, 2026 A. 2026 DEPARTMENT COMPOSITE REQUEST A request for the FFTB to cover the cost of a new department composite photo was submitted by Sarah McKillop in the amount of $4,500. The last one we did was in 2022. This time we would go with a more professional company, JLT Photography. Everyone would have a digital department photo and then a composite to be hung in the lobby of 82. He would come to Station 82 over the course of 4 days. KITCHEN TABLE REQUEST A request was submitted by Capt. Adam Walsh in the amount of $26,500.00 to purchase new custom kitchen tables for each of the 5 stations. HONOR GUARD BAG PIPE EQUIPMENT REQUEST A request was submitted by Jeb Kaiser in the amount of $909.95, requesting the FFTB cover the cost of a replacement bagpipe bag and to purchase a new practice chanter, in order to best serve the department post retirement by continuing to play bagpipes at FD memorials and functions. ARS RESCUE STRAP REQUEST A request was submitted by FF Russ Hammer requesting 100 ARS Rescue Straps, one for each member, at a total cost of $10, 500. Uses are many but include TRT, rescue of civilians and firefighters. Each strap is rated for over 1100lbs. Can be used to lift and drag. RIT training has shown that this device has been very useful in the most stressful and strenuous points in rescues. Interest has been shown by dozens of our members in this strap for personal gear. If FFTB could make the initial purchase, Haberdashery can add it to the list of gear that everyone is given and guys would be required to turn them back in upon separation. PALATINE FIRE EXPLORER POST BSA ANNUAL FEES Lt. Shane Koeneman submitted a request for the FFTB to cover the annual cost of the BSA fees for the PFD Explorer Program, in the amount of $1,600.00 annually. The Palatine Fire Explorers are asking for a reoccurring payment for post fees through the BSA (Boy Scouts of America) for the post, lead advisors, and Explorers in good standing passed their first year. BSA holds the insurance for the post and the Explorers need to pay a fee for the post, and each Explorer and Lead Advisor has a registration fee. This cost is roughly $1500-1600 a year. The Explorers have found VILLAGE OF PALATINE Page 4 of 7 Page 6 of 20 Minutes March 18, 2026 revenue streams with a pancake breakfast and 3 different grants. This revenue goes for replacement gear, masks, uniforms (replacement), and helps offset some of the costs for the IFSI trip. The BSA fees are about 1/3rd of the revenue we receive. Our request would be a standing yearly reoccurring cost. In addition to our revenue streams, the department has set aside OT costs for meetings. We have recently added 3 members, expanding the post to 15 members with a waiting list. Each new explorer costs $500 to outfit including SCBA, turnout gear, boots, and uniforms. The items we buy are in good condition. We were awarded a grant to pay in full for these new members.
