City of Philadelphia Public Hearing Notice The Committee on Labor and Civil Service of the Council of the City of Philadelphia will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 1:00 PM, in a remote manner using Microsoft® Teams. This remote hearing may be viewed on Xfinity Channel 64, Fios Channel 40 or http://phlcouncil.com/watch-city-council/, to hear testimony on the following items: 210325 An Ordinance amending Title 22 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled “Public Employees Retirement Code,” by modifying the circumstances when certain City of Philadelphia employees are entitled to service-connected death benefits during the pandemic, and making certain technical changes, all under certain terms and conditions. 210417 An Ordinance amending Section 13-101 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled “Fixing and Regulating Rates and Charges,” to modify the remedies and enforcement provisions, and make technical changes, all under certain terms and conditions. 210421 An Ordinance amending Section 17-107 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled “Contractors: Labor Management Relationships” to create a new classification of covered airport service employees to receive prevailing wages; to extend prevailing wage requirements to third-party contracts with City-related agencies, lessees and sublessees of the City, recipients of City financial assistance, and purchasers of City property; to further provide for administration and enforcement, including reporting on contractor compliance with prevailing wage requirements; and to provide for a civil action to remedy violations, all under certain terms and conditions. They will be given additional instructions by the Committee Chair once they are connected. Immediately following the public hearing, a meeting of the Committee on Labor and Civil Service, open to the public, will be held to consider the action to be taken on the above listed items.
