Romeo Rd Village Board Village Board Meeting Minutes May 15, 2019 Regular Meeting 1. CALL TO ORDER Roll Call Present 7- Trustee Jose Chavez, Trustee Linda Palmiter, Trustee Ken Griffin, Trustee Dave Richards, Trustee Brian A. Clancy Sr., Mayor John Noak, and Trustee Lourdes Aguirre 2. POSTING OF COLORS, PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 3. PETITIONS FROM THE PUBLIC Ashim Tawali- He resides in Romeoville with his family. A discussion has been sparked on social media by many who have opinions of their own on how Romeoville can progress. He has taken the time to go through the budgets. There are things he doesn't understand. His goal tonight is to bring more community members together to discuss how to bring more development projects to our community. He was surprised to see how many community members are not informed. He is tired of looking at gas stations. Why aren't more sidewalks being built. He gave a few examples of what the community wants as stated on social media. He would like to work towards a more progressive change in our community. He will continue to attend meetings and to reach out to other community members. Gary Hoffman- He has lived in Romeoville for 19 years. He has seen many changes all very positive. We are fortunate to have a collection of professionals that make these changes possible. He is on the Fire and Police Commission and his wife is on Planning and Zoning. There are a lot of positive things happening in Romeoville such as the train station which put Romeoville on the map, the interchange, the beautification of Route 53 and the solarization of Magid Glove. Also, the Exchange Club of Will County is having a pancake breakfast at the Rec Center from 8:00-11:00 this weekend. Ken Burgess- He has been in Romeoville for 27 years. The improvements that the Board has made in this Village are amazing. He applauds everything that the Village has done. Petra Burgess- She echoes everything that has been said. She is from Germany and in the time she has been here, she has seen many changes. There is so much to do in this Village. We are going in the right direction. Lenny Criddle- He is the new Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber can always count of the Village for their support. We have added 27 new business to our Chamber thus far this year. We have moved to a new location at Lewis University. The businesses in Romeoville are excited by all the things that are happening in the Village. The Chamber is having their Open House on May 22nd. Thanks again to the Village for their support. 4. CONSENT AGENDA A motion was made by Trustee Griffin, seconded by Trustee Aguirre, to do a consent agenda. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 6- Trustee Chavez, Trustee Palmiter, Trustee Griffin, Trustee Richards, Trustee Clancy, and Trustee Aguirre Non-voting: 1- Mayor Noak Approval of the Consent Agenda A motion was made by Trustee Palmiter, seconded by Trustee Griffin, to approve the Consent Agenda. This Motion was Approved. ORD19-1563 An Ordinance Amending Section 74.02(A)(2) of the Village Code of Ordinances—Mailbox Parking Regulations This Ordinance was Approved. RES19-2695 A resolution authorizing the waiving of bids for the cost of converting a DOD Stewart & Stevenson LMTV into a brush truck and tow vehicle for the Fire Department by Emergency Vehicle Service Inc. of St Charles, Illinois This Resolution was Approved. RES19-2696 A Resolution Establishing a Development Security for the Public, Stormwater and Erosion Control Improvements at the Gateway Truck Wash located at the Gateway development on IL 53 at Joliet Road (PZC#18-019). This Resolution was Approved. RES19-2697 A Resolution Accepting the Public Improvements Panattoni-Mostyn Development- South Building This Resolution was Approved. RES19-2698 A Resolution to Approve Payment of the Annual Membership Dues for the Lower Des Plaines Watershed Group This Resolution was Approved. RES19-2699 A Resolution to Approve Emergency Repairs at the Fairfax Avenue Deep Well This Resolution was Approved. RES19-2700 A Resolution to Approve the Purchase of a Hach Phosphorus Analyzer for the South Wastewater Treatment Plant This Resolution was Approved. RES19-2701 A Resolution Waiving the Public Bidding Process and Accepting the Proposal from Vermont Systems - RecTrac Software This Resolution was Approved. Village of Romeoville Page 3 Printed on 6/27/2019 Village Board Meeting Minutes May 15, 2019 RES19-2703 A Resolution to Approve a Proposal from Carroll Seating Company for 12 New Tournament 8-Feet Portable Basketball Hoops with Romeoville Logo, Backboard, Carts, and NBA Basketballs for the Romeoville Edwards Athletic and Event Center for a cost of $87,000 This Resolution was Approved. 5. MAYOR'S REPORT Congratulations again to the Best Buddies program. Congratulations to Officer Wagner (Officer of the Year) and to Liz Rizzato (Civilian of the Year) who were recognized at the Police Awards Ceremony this past Thursday. I will be attending Romeoville High School’s Scholarship Night tomorrow. I will be speaking at Irene King’s Career Day on Friday. The Chamber will be holding a ribbon cutting for their new offices on May 22nd. Mistwood will be having a Memorial Day Fireworks show on Sunday, May 26th. Join us for our Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the Doc McCartan Veterans Memorial Garden. For the residents new to petitions to the public, we are always happy to talk with you. You do not just have to come to a Board meeting. Thanks for your input. Offices will be closed on May 27th in observance of Memorial Day. 6. CLERK'S REPORT Congratulations to Trustee Palmiter, Griffin and Aguirre on their reelection. Congratulations to the students here tonight. Congratulations to the the Police Awards recipients. The Community Service Council meets next Tuesday. The Valley View Enrichment Foundation meets next Thursday at Village Hall. Plans are being made for the upcoming golf outing. 7. CITIZEN'S, COMMITTEES, COMMISSIONS AND LIAISON REPORTS None 8. VILLAGE MANAGER'S REPORT The Recreation Department had a Park Party at Malibu Bay on Thursday. BOARD COMMENTS Trustee Chavez- We made some changes to our ordinances to help abate violations that exist. It is the right thing to do. We spent money on our Fairfax Deep Well which went down. Things like this is what our emergency funds are for. We upgraded some equipment for our south treatment plant. These are things that are behind the scenes but very important. We upgraded software at the Recreation Center that has not been upgraded for 20 years which is a win/win situation for everyone. Attended the Police Awards Ceremony. We have a great Police Department. Thanks to all the men/women in blue. It is that time of year. Kids are all out. Slow down. If you see a house with tall grass, call us. We have a system via the web and phone, use it. We have to keep our neighborhoods looking good. Join us at Mistwood for the Memorial Day fireworks and the Memorial Day Service at the Edward "Dco" McCartan Veterans Memorial Garden. Thanks to the residents who got up and spoke today. Trustee Griffin- This is a busy week for Veterans. Please support our veterans. Memorial Day Fireworks at Mistwood on Sunday. Trustee Clancy- The Beautification Awards for the Clean Up Week Poster Contest was held last night. Congratulations to the winners. Mistwood Golf Course Fireworks will be held on May 26th. Join us for the Memorial Day Service. The Route 66 Car Shows are starting. The first one is June 6th. We have a great Police Department. Congratulations to the award winners. Congratulations to the Best Buddies Program. Congratulations to Lou, Linda and Ken. Trustee Richards- Condolences to the family of Bill Karl. Congratulations to Best Buddies. This is a great program. There are 10 more days of school until kids will be on the streets. Be aware. Congratulations to the Police Awards winners. Attended the Top 10 Awards Dinner hosted by Rotary.
