Romeo Rd Village Board Village Board Meeting Minutes September 4, 2019 Regular Meeting 1. CALL TO ORDER Roll Call Present 6- Trustee Linda Palmiter, Trustee Ken Griffin, Trustee Dave Richards, Trustee Brian A. Clancy Sr., Mayor John Noak, and Trustee Lourdes Aguirre Absent 1- Trustee Jose Chavez 2. POSTING OF COLORS, PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 3. PETITIONS FROM THE PUBLIC Richard Strom- Please give to help the people of the Bahamas. There is land across the street from Chicago Tube and Iron. The developer is putting down pretty potent vegetation killer. The Village needs to look into this. This should be monitored. Also, he sees a lot of kids walking big dogs by themselves. It is an idea to look into this as this could turn into a dangerous situation. Sandra Mendoza- Her concern is with the area around Farragut and Arcadia. There are a lot of younger individuals hanging around on the street corners. She would like the Police to look into this. She does call when she sees this going on. Also, she received a letter about taxes in her area-she doesn't understand it. Mayor Noak stated that if she can stick around until after the meeting, we will be happy to address both of her concerns. 4. CONSENT AGENDA A motion was made by Trustee Griffin, seconded by Trustee Richards, to do a consent agenda. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5- Trustee Palmiter, Trustee Griffin, Trustee Richards, Trustee Clancy, and Trustee Aguirre Absent: 1- Trustee Chavez Non-voting: 1- Mayor Noak Approval of the Consent Agenda A motion was made by Trustee Griffin, seconded by Trustee Palmiter, to approve the Consent Agenda. RES19-2770 A Resolution to Accept the Public Improvements-Duke at Paragon This Resolution was Approved. RES19-2771 A Resolution to Accept Public Improvements - Bluff Road Reconstruction at CT Realty- Interchange 55 Logistics This Resolution was Approved. RES19-2773 A Resolution Waiving of Bids to Accept a Proposal from F.H. Paschen for the Remodeling of the Recreation Center Front Desk (four Proposals Received) This Resolution was Approved. RES19-2774 A Resolution Waiving the Bids and Authorizing a contract With Harbour Contractors for Preconstruction Services Athletic and Event Center Expansion and Pool Project Village of Romeoville Page 2 Printed on 11/14/2019 Village Board Meeting Minutes September 4, 2019 This Resolution was Approved. 5. MAYOR'S REPORT Condolences to the family of Ray Meader. The Disabled Veteran’s Golf Outing will be held on September 9th at Carillon Golf Club. Valley View Dental will be having a 20 Year Anniversary celebration on September 13th. Join us for the Founders Day Parade on September 15th. This year's theme is Dr. Suess. Clean Up Week is the week of September 9th-13th 19-2660 Proclamation-National Suicide Prevention and Action Month Mayor Noak stated that this topic has shown itself in our community recently. He cannot emphasize enough how important this is. A motion was made by Trustee Griffin, seconded by Trustee Palmiter, that this Proclamation be Accepted. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5- Trustee Palmiter, Trustee Griffin, Trustee Richards, Trustee Clancy, and Trustee Aguirre Absent: 1- Trustee Chavez Non-voting: 1- Mayor Noak 6. CLERK'S REPORT The Community Service Council Gala will be September 13th at the Bolingbrook Golf Club. Thanks to Steve Pyle for his service to Romeoville. 7. CITIZEN'S, COMMITTEES, COMMISSIONS AND LIAISON REPORTS None 8. VILLAGE MANAGER'S REPORT Thanks to Steve Pyle for all of his years of service. We wish him the best. 9. NEW BUSINESS RES19-2772 A Resolution Waiving the Bidding Process and Approving a Contract with GLI Services for the Police and Service Animal Memorial A motion was made by Trustee Palmiter, seconded by Trustee Griffin, that this Village of Romeoville Page 3 Printed on 11/14/2019 Village Board Meeting Minutes September 4, 2019 Resolution be Approved. BOARD COMMENTS Trustee Palmiter- Thanks to Steve Pyle. Condolences to the family of Ray Meader. Thanks to the resident who spoke up. Calling the Police when you feel the need is very important. Trustee Griffin- EDC will be meeting tomorrow. Thanks to all of the citizens who support the Veteran's Commission. Condolences to Rich Vogel and the Meader family. Trustee Clancy- Condolences to the Meader family. Congratulations to Steve Pyle. A Recreation update was given. Trustee Richards- Condolences to the Vogel and Meader families. Thanks to Steve Pyle. The September 10th Planning and Zoning meeting is cancelled. Trustee Aguirre- Thanks to Steve Pyle. Condolences to the Vogel and Meader families. The Fire and Police tests are coming up. The Fire test is October 12th and the Police test is October 26th. Both will be held at the RHS Field House. The next Fire and Police Commission meeting will be September 10th. Please support our High School sports teams and band. 11. EXECUTIVE SESSION None 12.
