Village of Schaumburg-Environmental Committee Minutes Meeting of October 2, 2025 Page 1 of 5 CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 7:09 pm by Chairperson, Donna Panico-Atkins. ROLL CALL Members Present: Chairperson Donna Panico-Atkins, Donna Johnson, Pratik Patel, Ryszard Puskarz, Robert Wachsmuth, Elizabeth Wimmer, and Ritika Muthukumar Member(s) Absent: Sandeep Alavandi and Mahesh Prajapati A quorum was present. Staff Present: Monica Richart – Sustainability Planner Taylor Storm – Recording Secretary APPROVAL OF MINUTES – September 3, 2025 Mr. Wachsmuth made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Mr. Patel. All Ayes. Two members were absent. MOTION CARRIED NEW BUSINESS 1. Recommendation to Select the 2025 Landscape Award Nominees Ms. Richart stated that the nominees were selected by the Village’s landscape inspector. A motion was made by Ms. Johnson to nominate Northwest Community Healthcare for Most Improved Commercial (Office/Hotel/Restaurant). Mr. Patel seconded. A formal vote was held: Donna Panico Atkins – Yes Donna Johnson – Yes Pratik Patel - Yes Ryszard Puskarz - No Robert Wachsmuth - Yes Ritika Muthukumar – Yes Elizabeth Wimmer – Yes Sandeep Alavandi – Absent Mahesh Prajapati - Absent MOTION CARRIED: Vote 6-1 with 2 members absent. A motion was made by Ms. Johnson to nominate PGA Superstore/Xsport for Most Improved Retail (Shopping Centers/ Car Dealers). Ms. Muthukumar seconded. A motion was made by Ms. Johnson to nominate The Quin Apartments for Most Improved PUD (Planned Unit Development). Mr. Wachsmuth seconded. A motion was made by Ms. Johnson to nominate Schaumburg Bank & Trust for Best Maintained Commercial (Office/Hotel/Restaurant). Mr. Wachsmuth seconded. Mr. Patel seconded. A formal vote was held: Donna Panico Atkins – Yes Donna Johnson – Yes Pratik Patel - Yes Ryszard Puskarz - Yes Robert Wachsmuth - Yes Ritika Muthukumar – Yes Elizabeth Wimmer – Yes Sandeep Alavandi – Absent Mahesh Prajapati - Absent MOTION CARRIED: Vote 7-0 with 2 members absent. A motion was made by Ms. Johnson to nominate Diamonds Direct for Best Maintained Retail (Shopping Centers/Car Dealers). Mr. Puskarz seconded. A motion was made by Chairperson Panico-Atkins to nominate North 680 for Best Maintained Planned Unit Development (Residential). Mr. Patel seconded. A motion was made by Mr. Wachsmuth to nominate Lurie Children’s Hospital for Best Natural Landscaping. Ms. Johnson seconded. A formal vote was held: Donna Panico Atkins – Yes Donna Johnson – Yes Pratik Patel - Yes Ryszard Puskarz - Yes Robert Wachsmuth - Yes Ritika Muthukumar – Yes Elizabeth Wimmer – Yes Sandeep Alavandi – Absent Mahesh Prajapati - Absent MOTION CARRIED: Vote 7-0 with 2 members absent. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 2. 2025 Environmental Fair – Final Report Ms. Richart stated that she updated the final report with the committee comments from the September meeting for a record when planning next year’s fair. Chairperson Panico-Atkins stated that this fair was one of the more successful fairs, that many people were engaged. Mr. Wachsmuth mentioned that the Comprehensive Green Action Plan gathered good information. Ms. Richart said this information can be used for next year. She mentioned that many responses included suggestions on types of activities presented by the fair. Chairperson Panico-Atkins suggested including the Green Action Plan responses and notes for reference in future meeting agendas when planning the fair. PUBLIC COMMENT DEFERRALS ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Mr. Patel made a motion, seconded by Ms. Wimmer to adjourn the meeting. All Ayes. Two members were absent.
