Village of Schaumburg-Environmental Committee Minutes Meeting of April 2, 2026 Page 1 of 2 CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 7:01 pm by Bob Wachsmuth. ROLL CALL Members Present: Ryszard Puskarz, Robert Wachsmuth, Donna Johnson, Sandeep Alavandi Mahesh Prajapati, and Pratik Patel (arrived at 7:03pm) Member(s) Absent: Chairperson Donna Panico-Atkins and Elizabeth Wimmer A quorum was present. Also Present: Monica Richart – Sustainability Planner Taylor Storm – Recording Secretary Robert Mamrot – Engineering and Public Works A motion was made by Mr. Puskarz to allow Robert Wachsmuth to serve as acting chairperson. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – March 5, 2026 Mr. Puskarz made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, seconded by Mr. Alavandi. All Ayes. Two members were absent. MOTION CARRIED NEW BUSINESS 1. Recycling Event - Updates Mr. Mamrot gave an update on the upcoming recycling events. He provided two maps, one of the Al Larson Cultural Center (ALCC) where the document shredding event will occur on Saturday, April 11th, running from 9am through 12pm. The entrance will be to Prairie Center Drive, off Schaumburg Road. He stated the event is for Schaumburg residents only. The second map presented was for the Spring Recycling Event on Saturday, April 25th, starting at 9am until 1pm at the Boomer’s Stadium. Mr. Mamrot stated the main change from previous years is there is now a fee for disposing of TVs, a $25 flat fee. He stated the fee can be paid via credit card only. He stated that volunteers are needed to assist with the event. Mr. Wachsmuth volunteered to count vehicles. Mr. Mamrot stated that the only fees at the event are for disposal of paint and TVs. The paint fee differs per volume. Both latex and oil-based paints are accepted. Mr. Mamrot asked that volunteers arrive at the event between 8-8:15am. Ms. Richart stated that she will bring the volunteer waivers on the day of the event. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 2. 2026 Environmental Fair- Planning Ms. Richart stated that the library will have a “banned book” table and a snow cone truck. Both environmental committee tables will be inside the library. Ms. Richart shared that she will give a short presentation, and Ms. Johnson has coordinated a speaker with the Master Gardeners to come speak and assist with the seed ball activity. Ms. Richart confirmed that the Village of Schaumburg-Environmental Committee Minutes Meeting of April 2, 2026 Page 2 of 2 library will host the speakers in the workshop area adjacent to the lobby where the tables will be set up. She stated that one presentation will be about planting native plants. She stated some final planning activities include getting volunteers to pick up the tree saplings for the giveaway, generating buzzer board questions, and deciding on if the committee wants a table outside. Mr. Prajapati and Mr. Alavandi volunteered to pick up the tree saplings from LRS the Wednesday before the meeting. Ms. Johnson suggested having seed packets as prizes for kids who do the buzzer board. Ms. Richart stated that the Village is working on a webpage for the Environmental Fair. The committee voted against having a table outside. Ms. Richart asked for suggestions for books for the table, and for committee members to email questions for the buzzer board to her. Mr. Puskarz suggested having a brochure of the information presented by the speakers for the public to take if they want a reference for Village policies. Upcoming events for the Environmental Committee include: Shredding Event – Saturday, April 11th, 9am-12pm. Recycling Event – Saturday, April 25th, 9am-1pm. Environmental Fair – Sunday, May 31st, 1-3pm. PUBLIC COMMENT DEFERRALS ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Mr. Puskarz made a motion, seconded by Mr. Alavandi, to adjourn the meeting. All Ayes. Two members were absent.
