SUBJECT: APPEARANCE COMMISSION/CASE SUBMITTAL –
STAFF REPORT
Staff offers the following comments on the cases scheduled for the February 13th Appearance
Commission meeting:
RESIDENTIAL REQUESTS
2013-005A (9222 Lotus) Staff has no objections with the overall design and recommends that the
color of the proposed wrought iron elements on the second floor match the color of the
existing window frames and muntins.
2013-006A (3849 Clifford) Staff has no objections with the overall design; however, the Floor
Area Ratio (FAR) requirements must be met and provided on the Zoning Information
Worksheet.
COMMERCIAL REQUESTS
2012-056A (7096 Carpenter) No new material has been submitted. At the December 2012
meeting, the Appearance Commission unofficially supported a simple parapet design
for this tenant space.
2012-064A (7550 Kostner) Staff has no objections with the overall sign concept; however, the
“North” must be removed from the address, as directions are not used in official Skokie
addresses. An application for the consolidation of 7 Property Identification Numbers
(PINs) will be necessary prior to the issuance of a sign permit.
2013-007A (4999 Old Orchard) Staff has no objections with the overall design; however, it is
recommended that the wall sign be shifted down slightly so it is not so close to the top
of the parapet roof. Prior to the issuance of a Building Permit, the debris along the
entrance driveway must be removed.
