^ .;;TamT3tti^ Village Hall Village f'ltffj] of 5127 Oakton Street Skokie, lilinois 60077 Phone (847) 673-0500 Fax(847) 673-0525 www.skokie.org SKOKIE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING April 21, 2025 PRESENT: Chair Willard Evans, Jr. Vice Chair Helene Levine Commissioner Nicole Potthast Commissioner Bruce Rottner Commissioner Ferdinand Soco ALSO PRESENT: Debra Stinson, Board Secretary Jeffrey Hoeflich, Fire Chief Jesse Barnes, Police Chief The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.by Board Chair Willard Evans, Jr. Vice Chair Helene Levine made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Nicole Potthast to approve the Minutes of the February 18, 2025 Regular Meeting. Motion carried 5-0. The Board reviewed memoranda from Chief Jesse Barnes announcing the resignation of Police Officer Jose Ruiz and from Chief Jeffrey Hoeflich announcing the resignation of Fire Lieutenant Robert Gaseor. The Board accepted the resignations and extended best wishes to each of the employees. The Board reviewed a letter from Entry Level Police Officer candidate Daniel Sanchez asking the Board to reconsider his candidacy, despite the fact he did not have, nor could he obtain a FOID card. The Board reviewed Mr. Sanchez's request. Commissioner Rottner made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Potthast to deny the request. Motion carried 5-0. The Board reviewed a memorandum from Chief Jeffrey Hoeflich requesting the deferment of Firefighter candidate Jack King due to his deployment by the Army National Guard. A motion was made by Vice Chair Helene Levine, seconded by Commissioner Bruce Rottner to approve the request. Motion carried 5-0. The Board discussed Entry Level Police Officer recruitment, the Police Sergeant and Fire Lieutenant promotional processes. The Entry Level Police Officer recruitment process resulted in 73 candidates who were eligible to test, 49 sat for the examination and 42 passed the examination. The promotional process for Police Sergeant is presently underway and the Fire Lieutenant process will launch in June 2025. "BTTOT With no further business on the agenda, Commissioner Bruce Rottner made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Ferdinand Soco to move into Executive Session. Motion carried 5-0.
