Health Director’s Monthly Report: (a copy is attached, and was distributed during the meeting) 1. Measles concern-Orthodox Jewish Community The New York and New Jersey Orthodox Jewish communities are experiencing outbreaks of measles, after unvaccinated individuals traveled to Israel where ongoing transmission of measles is occurring. There is concern that similar outbreaks could happen in the Chicago area, and Chicago Rabbis have issued a strong statement urging vaccination to protect against measles. In response, the Health Department sent letters to the seven Jewish Schools in Skokie, and 20 area physicians identified as providing care for children in Skokie Jewish schools. We are alerting them to the situation and urging measles vaccination as a preventative measure. 2. Resilient Families at Skokie Public Library More than 100 adults and children attended the Resilient Families event at the Skokie Public Library. This is the first of many planned conversations to introduce ACEs and trauma informed care to our community. 3.
