A. Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Dr. Werner, Chairman. Dr.
Werner reminded that the meeting is being recorded and read a statement that
meetings will be held electronically until further notice per the State of Illinois
Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation. Members of the public may submit questions to
Mr. Michael Charley and they will be presented and read during the relevant portion of
the meeting.
B. Approval of Minutes: The minutes from the February 11, 2021 meeting was approved.
C. COVID-19 Updates: Michael Charley: Mr. Charley reported he statistics from Skokie’s
COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign:
• 5538 positive cases in Skokie
• 113 total COVID-19 related deaths
• The positivity rate is at 2.17%
• New CDC guidance for fully vaccinated people
• 32,000 residents have pre-registered for vaccine
• Currently vaccinating phases 1A and 1B
• 51% of Skokie Residents 65 and up have been fully vaccinated
• Skokie has vaccinated healthcare workers, independent living facility residents,
group home residents and staff, daycare employees, school
educators/employees, front line essential workers and residents 65 and older
A brief Q&A followed on the process of removing a person from the pre-registration
list who already received vaccination and how to track those individuals.
D. Chair’s Report: Dr. Werner proposed a resolution of recognition be sent to the Trustees
on all the wonderful work Skokie Health & Human Services has done during the
pandemic. A motion was passed by board members to proceed. Also shared an article
from APHA Journal on the different viruses from the past and present and their
similarities. He mentioned at the next meeting someone from Turning Point Mental
Health will be giving a presentation on the impact the pandemic has had on the
population. He also stated the board will be promotion “Bicycle Safety” During the
month of May.
E. Director’s Report: (See COVID-19 Updates)
F. Old/New Items of Business: Dr. Linn shared an informative presentation on COVID-19
Vaccination: Women’s Reproductive Health Considerations. Mr. Charley reported he
met with the Village Manager on the E-Cigarette Sales Ordinance and it will be
presented to the Trustees this summer. Ms. Nickisch Duggan also suggested an article to
read in the Harvard Business Review that a former member board member collaborated
in writing, on how employers can reduce vaccine hesitancy. Dr. Williams suggested to
find out the Village’s stand on returning to in person meetings. Mr. Charley said he
would follow up. Dr. Werner thanked everyone for their input and Discussion ended.
