13212 MINUTES of a regular meeting of the Mayor and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Skokie, Cook County, Illinois held in the Council Chambers at 5127 Oakton Street at 8 p.m. on Tuesday September 4, 2018 Pledge of Allegiance led by Cub Scout Pack #85 from Middleton School The Mayor called the meeting to order. The Clerk called the Roll. Those present were Sutker, Roberts, Ulrich, Bromberg, Klein, Gray- Keeler and Mayor Van Dusen. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda. Moved: Trustee Ulrich Seconded: Trustee Klein Ayes: Sutker, Roberts, Ulrich, Bromberg, Klein, Gray-Keeler and Mayor Van Dusen Nays: None. Absent: None. MOTION CARRIED * Approve, as submitted, minutes of regular meeting held Monday, August 20, 2018. Omnibus vote. * Approve Voucher List #8-FY19 of September 4, 2018. Omnibus vote. Proclamations and Resolutions. A. Proclamations Fairness and Equality Campaign National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month – September 2018 Trustee Sutker read a Proclamation stating that September is known around the United States as National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and is intended to help promote awareness surrounding each of the Suicide Prevention resources available to us and our community. Recognition, Awards and Honorary Presentations. A. Awards Business of the Year Awards presented by the Consumer Affairs Commission Chair Joanne Haeberlin: Winner: Ace Hardware – 5035 Oakton Street Runner Up: Jane’s Hallmark Shop – 9316 Skokie Boulevard Runner Up: Jerry’s Quality Meat – 3706 Dempster Street Runner Up: Marge’s Flowers – 8038 Lincoln Avenue Businesses of the Year Awards were presented and each business thanked the Board and Village for the honor. Mayor Van Dusen thanked the businesses and the Consumer Affairs Commission for their hard work. * Appointments, Reappointments and Resignations. A. Report of the Village Manager. A. Commercial Corridor Storefront Enhancement Program – 8057 Niles Center Road. Motion to approve a grant in an amount not to exceed $27,900 is requested for Haben Funeral Home, 8057 Niles Center for the Commercial Corridor Storefront Enhancement program. 13213 Meeting of the Mayor and Board of Trustees Tuesday September 4, 2018 Page Two Leslie Murphy, Economic Development Specialist gave a brief power point presentation on The Commercial Corridor Storefront Enhancement Program. High Priority Street Patching Program 2018 – J. A. Johnson Paving Company, Arlington Heights, Illinois - $232,250. Motion to award a contract to J. A. Johnson Paving Company, Arlington Heights, IL in the amount of $232,250 for high priority street patching program 2018. Omnibus vote. *C. Purchase of One Street Department Dump Truck – Transchicago Truck Group, Elmhurst, Illinois - $166,836. Motion to award a contract to Transchicago Truck Group, Elmhurst, Illinois in the amount of $166,836 for purchase of One Street Department Dump Truck. Omnibus vote. *D.Public Works Building Roof Rehabilitation – CSR Roofing, Inc., Oak Park, Illinois – $233,200. Motion to award a contract to CSR Roofing, Inc., Oak Park, Illinois in the amount of $233,200 for Public Works Building Roof Rehabilitation. Omnibus vote. Report of the Corporation Counsel. FIRST READING A. An ordinance establishing the compensation of the Village Manager, Deputy Village Clerk, Corporation Counsel and Assistant Corporation Counsels of the Village of Skokie. This item is on the agenda for first reading and will be on the September 17, 2018 agenda for second reading and adoption. Plan Commission. A. Plan Commission Case 2018-21P – Site Plan Approval: 9300, 9310 and 9440 Kenton Avenue Motion to approve the petitioner’s request for site plan approval for a school district administration property at 9440 Kenton Avenue and a junior high school property at 9300- 9310 Kenton Ave. in an R1 Single-Family zoning district is approved subject to all conditions.
