APPROVED May 14, 2025 Meeting Minutes for CONSUMER AFFAIRS COMMISSION APRIL 9, 2025 VILLAGE HALL, 5127 OAKTON, SKOKIE, IL 60077 – CONFERENCE ROOM A Members Present: Biju Krishman, Ted Lavine, Natalie Lopatkiewicz, Ashley Silverstein, Gary Merrill, Members Absent: Trustee Khoeun, George Matthew, Anil Pillai, Pretap Sampat Presiding Officer: Biju Krishman Staff Present: Carol White, Economic Vitality Coordinator Others Present: Madeleine England, Kneads and Wants Bakery 1) At 6:05pm, Chairman Biju Krishman Called to Order/Declaration of Quorum 2) Old Business – none. 3) Approval of Meeting Minutes January 8, 2025 Natalie made a motion. Ashley seconded. Motion Passed. 4) New Business – The Commission welcomed Madeleine England from Kneads and Wants Bakery and the President of the Downtown Skokie Merchants Collaborative. She talked about her business and the catering that they do. She shared we need more business workers in town to drive more business. They create 550 pastries in their kitchen. She also shared the hard work that she has put in forming the non for profit and building a website and newsletter. She shared events that are planned and the Commission thanked her for presenting. Sketchbook will be visited by Natalia and George and report back in May. Schaefer’s will be visited by Ashley and report back in June. Kneads and Wants will be visited by Biju and report back in July. Will’s Place will be visited by Gary and report back in August. The Commission would also like to revisit the mission statement on the website in our May meeting. 5) Summary of Public Comment – no public comment. 6) Adjournment – 7:23pm Meeting was adjourned.
