Explanation of Expenditure 3 person indoor traditional sauna for Station 18
Type of Expenditure Other
Other Health and Wellness
How does this meet the criteria Having a sauna can be highly beneficial forfirefighters by
"for the maintenance, use and promoting muscle recovery, reducing stress, and improving
benefit of the department? overall cardiovascular health. The intense physical demands of
firefighting, including heavy lifting and exposure to extreme
temperatures, can strain the body, making regular recovery vital.
Saunas help by increasing blood circulation, which aids in muscle
relaxation and alleviates soreness Additionally, the heat in the
sauna induces sweating, which helps to detoxify the body by
flushing out toxins.
Additional Information The Sauna Shield company (the preferred vendor) provides an
entire page dedicated to the positive effects saunas have on
Firefighters and may provide discounts for Firefighters as well.
Their 3-person sauna measures 75" W x 48" D x 72*' H. After
measurements at the Station 18 printshop, we've confirmed that
It will fit perfectly along the wall along the printshop bathroom.
Additionally, we've accounted for the necessary overhead space
to ensure proper venting, all in compliance with the
manufacturer's specifications. According to the manufacturer, for
power to the unit we would need Two 120v/20 amp outlets.
Shipping was shown to be free once Station 18's address was
entered.
The second vendor is a Golden Designs 3 person sauna from
Nordica Designs website. Also Includes free shipping 61ftW x 50"D
x 75"H. This sauna requires a 240V connection for the heater as
well as a 120V for the controls. These measurements also comply
with the manufacturers specifications for proper venting.
