SKOKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 2022 PRESENT: Chairperson Paul Pitalis, Vice Chair Mark Penning, Police Chief Brian Baker, Fire Chief Jeff Hoeflich, Senior Engineer Samantha Maximilian, Deputy Fire Chief Nicholas C. Eschner, Leslie Post-Weissinger, Dennis Rizo, Alicia Case, Joel Reyes, Bryant Smith, Cornell Collins, Paul Kruszynski, EXCUSED: Director of Public Works Max Slankard, Trustee Edie Sue Sutker, Director of Engineering Russ Rietveld, Frank Ippolito, Trustee Alison Pure-Slovin, Howard Rosenburg, Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Jagman, Melissa Villegas, ABSENT: Daniel Fink, Jr., Earl Nicholas, Edward McCarthy, Kenneth Mantel, Marcie Claus, Mitchell Kushner, Linda Perlin CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Chairperson Paul Pitalis called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. The minutes of the March 16th meeting were approved. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Chief Baker presented the Police Department report. Another update that Police Department had was the intention to privatize the crossing guard program. Chief Baker also mentioned the naming contest for the new K9 officer. Officer Richard Wilken gave an overview of the Rave Mobile Safety application and the Smart 911 program. Officer Wilken walked through the steps of setting up an online profile. QA discussion followed. FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT The Fire Department report was presented by Chief Hoeflich. Cardiac Arrest calls are high. Overall, it’s a typical normal call volume for this time of year. The 9-week fire academy is stating in August and sign up availability will be coming in the near future. QA discussion followed. ENGINEERING REPORT Samantha Maximilian provided an update on various Engineering Division activities and projects for the 2022 construction season. QA discussion followed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Alicia Case announced she is resigning. She is moving out of state. Chairperson and members wished her farewell. NEW BUSINESS None. ADJOURNMENT At 7:45 p.m. a motion was made to adjourn which was seconded and then passed unanimously.
