SKOKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, MAY 18,2022 PRESENT: Chairperson Paul Pitalis, Police Chief Brian Baker, Leslie Post-Weissinger, Dennis Rizo, Comell Collins, Paul Kruszynski, Director of Engineering Russ Rietveld, Howard Rosenburg, Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Jagman, Melissa Villegas, Marcie CIaus, Mitchell Kushner, Linda Perlin EXCUSED: Vice Chair Mark Penning, Director of Public Works Max Slankard, Trustee Edie Sue Sutker, Frank IppoHto, Trustee AIison Pure-Slovin, Fire Chief Jeff Hoeflich, Senior Engineer Samantha Maximilian, Deputy Fire Chief Nicholas C. Eschner, Deputy Chief Jesse Bames, Bryant Smith ABSENT: Daniel Fink, Jr., Edward McCarthy, Kenneth ManteJ, Joei Reyes CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Chairperson Pitalis called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. The minutes of the April 20 meeting were approved. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Chief Baker presented the Police Department report. He also provided general information about the homicide Saturday the l4tsl and shooting Sunday the 15"'. In addition, he discussed the recent contract approval for various cameras and associated equipment. QA discussion followed. ELRE DEPARTMENT REPORT The Fire Department report was presented by Deputy Chief Jagman. The Department is working on further automation of the Emergency Response System and hiring a data analyst. QA discussion followed. ENGINEERING REPORT Russ Rietveld presented the project map for the 2022 construction season. QA discussion followed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS Chairperson Pitalis mentioned the Commission would be in the upcoming July 4th parade and invited members to attend. Russ Rietvetd and Chairperson Pitalis discussed the request for commissioners to join the Environmental Sustainability Plan review team and solicited for volunteers. Chairperson Pitalis and Russ Rietveld discussed the Commission's budget and solicited for ideas. ADJOURNMENT At 7:53 p.m. a motion was made to adjourn which was seconded and then passed unanimously.
